Chapter 9

-LINDA-
......I sat in the hospital bed so confused. I didn't know where I would live or where my next meal would come from. It had been hours since Officer Donlap brought me that Mc Donald's and I was hungry again. The hospital food was disgusting but I still ate it.
"Hey, Ashley, I'm nurse Melinda Harper and I'm here to check your blood pressure ." She said , pulling out her sphygmomanometer. "125 over 80" she said, with a smile on her face . "You're pretty calm "

"Um do you have any snacks? "
"Yes, what would you like? "
"ANYTHING you have!!"

The door opens and in walks officer Donlap. "I have good news and bad news! The bad news is we didn't catch the bad guy. The good news is, the bastard killed himself. And he left a letter !" He said, passing me a wrinkled up sheet of paper. I didn't feel sorry for him not one bit.
I balled up the sheet of paper and threw it in the garbage .
"His apology means nothing to me!" I looked out the window and folded my arms.
"Where's are your parents Ashley?"
......my mother is in jail and my father is dead."
"So you're the little girl ...." suddenly he stopped talking.
"Ok, were gonna have to get you in a safe place. Any other family?"
"No seir." I said , with my head down.
(Sigh)

"I'll make some calls and we can get you in foster care."

Suddenly , he looked down at my wrists . "What happened here? Did he do this too?"
I didn't wanna tell him I had done it to myself .
"No, I did."
Why are you trying to hurt yourself Ashley? "
I cried because I couldn't even explain to him why.

"Nurse, put her on suicide watch so she won't hurt herself "

-Meanwhile in Shelby County correctional facility -

"Fresh meat" one inmate screamed , as Linda walked down the hallway of the women's jail. "Bitch I heard you're in for participating in rape" yelled another .
" We gone see how you like it when we rape yo ass."
"Yea, I like em skinny!" Yelled another one.

"Lock Cell 3." Said the guard to another one.
"Can you take these cuffs off of me?"
"When I lock the cell I will."

Linda was going through withdraw from all of the drugs she was taking.

"Guard, guard, this lady is having a seizure !!!!!!" yelled one of the inmates.

Linda laid there on the floor shaking with spit and foam coming out of her mouth.

"GUARD!! This lady is having a seizure .........................
