Jack Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Snape's POV

Lily has just sent me a letter asking to see me about something important. I have been working as a spy for Dumbledore against the Dark Lord. So far everything has been fine and Lily is safe along with her husband. She is also pregnant with his child. Which both saddens and angers me as I love her. We used to be best friends in school until I called her a mudblood out of my anger at James Potter. Who she is now married too.

I just arrived at their house in Godric's Hollow and she greeted me with a smile. "Where's Potter?" I ask as I enter their house.

"He is at Sirius's house" she states as we sat in the living room. "Now I guess you are wondering why I asked you to come here" she says.

"I did wonder, how is the baby?" I ask even though I didn't care that much. I just wanted her to be happy and safe.

"Funny you should mention the baby Severus as it turns out I am having twins" she tells me happily. "You know Sirius is going to be the godfather of one of them and I was wondering if you would be the godfather to our other twin?" she asks.

"I bet Potter wasn't happy about this" I state smirking knowingly.

"No, he wasn't frilled. But we came up with a solution of the child having two god parents. If you both agree that is" she explains.

"Who is the other god parent?" I ask.

"James is asking Remus as we speak, so will you be the godfather of my other baby?" she asks with pleading eyes. I can never say no to her. Though I was not happy about sharing the title with one of Potter's friend.

"Of course I will Lily, you know I'd do anything for you" I tell her.

"Splendid, now how about some tea" she suggests. So we had tea talking about the days when we were best friends. She also told be one of the babies was a boy, but they don't know about the other one yet. I then left back to my house at Spinner's End.

(19 months later)

The Potter's had their twins Harry and Jack. The werewolf and I are Jack's godfathers. Tonight was Halloween and I sat at home reading a potions book. I knew the Dark Lord planned to attack soon. But I asked him to spare Jack and Lily. He said he would if she surrendered Harry to him. I prayed she'd do the smart thing.

But then got an awful feeling that same thing terrible had happened. I grabbed my wand and apperated to Godric's Hollow. Then saw the Potter's gate and door open. I ran into  the house and saw Potter dead. The next place I went to is the nursery.

Where I see Lily dead on the floor with Harry and Jack in their cot. Harry had a scar on his head, but Jack looked unharmed as they cried silently. I fell to the floor hugging Lily to my chest as I cried. Soon I heard footsteps from downstairs and stopped crying.

I left Lily and picked up Jack and held my wand in my free hand facing the door. But is was only Hagrid and he picked Harry up. "Dumbledore said Harry is to go live with their aunt and uncle. But he says you may raise Jack if you wish" he tells me as we leave the house.

"I will do so, I promised Lily" I tell him and I apperated away once we left the house. I went to the werewolf's house first to inform him of what has happened. He let me after I answered a question and saw Jack in my arms.

"They're dead aren't they" he says solemnly.

"Yes, Hagrid has taken Harry so that he will be living with their muggle aunt and uncle. He told me that Dumbledore said I could raise Jack. But I thought you should also have a say" I explain.

"I think it would be safer if you raise Jack, but I still want to visit" he tells me.

"Jack can visit you every weekend unless it is a full moon" I tell him. He agreed and I went back to my house. Where I made a cot out of thin air for Jack to sleep in. "I am sorry Jack, I wish I could have protected your mother. But I won't fail with you" I promise Jack. When Jack was a sleep I went to my room across the hall and fell asleep.
