Detention and Centaur

Jack's POV

We were in Professor McGonagall's office about to hear our punishment. "Nothing I repeat nothing gives a student the right to walk around alone at night. There fore as punishment for your actions fifty points will be taken" she states.

"Fifty?" Harry asks shocked.

"Each and to ensure this doesn't happen again all five of you will receive tomorrow night" she tells us.

"Sorry, Professor perhaps I heard you wrong. I thought you said the five of us" Draco says stepping forward.

"Oh you heard me correctly Mister Malfoy, your actions were noble. But you too were out of bed after hours so you will see your classmates in detention tomorrow night" McGonagall says. I send Draco a smirk and then lead my fellow Gryffindors back to Gryffindor tower. Once there we went to our separate dorms to sleep.

(the following night)

As we were walking down to Hagrid's hut with Filch guiding us. He was telling us about the old punishments and how he missed the screaming. "You'll be serving detention tonight with Hagrid he has a little job to do inside the forest" Filch explains as Hagrid comes out of his hut. Along with his loaded cross bow and boar-hound Fang. "Good evening Hagrid, this is a sorry lot" he states.

Then I notice Hagrid looks sad as does Filch. "Blimey man you're still on about that dragon are you?" Filch asks.

"Norbert's gone, Dumbledore sent him off to Romania to leave in a colony" Hagrid explains.

"That's good isn't" Hermione says.

"He'll be with his own kind" I add.

"But want if he doesn't like Romania or the other dragons are mean to him. He's only a baby after all" Hagrid states.

"Pull yourself together man, you're going in the forest after all. Got to have your wits about you" Filch told him. "Nighty night" he says before heading back up to the castle leaving us with Hagrid. Who then lead us into the forest and soon stopped when we came across a silver puddle.

"Hagrid want is that?" Harry and I ask together.

"Can you guys stop doing that? It's weird" Ron states and I roll my eyes.

"That's unicorn blood, I found one dead a week ago and this one looks like it's been hurt badly. It is our job to find the poor creature" Hagrid explains. "It would be better if we went in groups, Hermione, Ron and Jack will come with me this way. Harry you'll go with Malfoy in that direction" Hagrid instructs giving Harry an 'I'm sorry' look.

"Fine, but I get Fang" Draco states.

"Very well, just to let you know he's a ruddy coward" Hagrid states before leading me and the other two away. It soon becomes clear we were heading the wrong way as we found no more tracks from the injured unicorn. Then I had a vision of Harry being in trouble of Malfoy running away with Fang.

So I took off back the way we came ignoring Hagrid's calls. I soon reached where we first found the unicorn blood and saw someone else. "Excuse me can you help me? My brother Harry is in trouble" I ask/explain. That is when I realize it was a centaur in front of me.

"Harry who?" he asks as he faces me swishing his tail.

"Harry Potter he went that way" I state pointing the way Harry and Draco went.

"Climb on" the centaur says holding his hand out I take it and he pulls me onto his back.

"I'll guide you with my connection to Harry" I state and he nods his head. Before taking off into the forest where I had pointed before. "Go left a bit" I instruct holding on tightly as he turns. I then feel Harry's fear as I see a clearing "he's in trouble please hurry" I say.

Just then we burst into the clearing and I see Harry on the ground with a cloaked figure heading towards him. I took out my wand as the centaur blocks the figures path. I shot red sparks into the air to show Hagrid where we were and that we were in trouble. but in doing so I lost my grip on the centaur and fell off as he reared on his hind legs.

"Harry" I say and run over to him avoiding the centaur scaring the dark figure. "Are you alright? Did it hurt you?" I ask as I help him up. Just then the dark figure left and the centaur turned to us. "Thank you, you saved my brother" I tell him bowing my head.

"Harry and Jack you must leave the forest is dangerous even more so at night. Especially for you two" the centaur states.

"Want was that thing you guys saved me from?" Harry asks.

"A monstrous creature, it is a terrible crime to slay a unicorn. It's blood can keep you alive even if you are an each from death. But a cost you'll live a half life a cursed life" the centaur explains.

"But who would choose such a life?" Harry asks.

"Can you think of no one Harry? Think real hard" I tell him.

"You mean that thing you saved me from, that was Voldemort?" he asks.

"Do you know want is hidden in the school at this very moment Potters?" the centaur asks us.

"The Philosopher's Stone" we state in realization.

"Harry, Jack!" I heard Hermione shout behind us.

"Hello there Firenze, I see you've met the Potters" Hagrid says as he lowers his crossbow.

"Jack, Harry this is where I leave you, you are safe now" Firenze the centaur says and starts to walk away.

"Thank you for helping me save Harry Firenze!" I yell after him. Firenze nods he's head in acknowledgment before disappearing into the forest. Hagrid looks over the dead unicorn and I notice Draco was with them along with Fang. I walk over to him and punch him in the face "if you ever leave my big brother like that again I'll kill you myself Malfoy" I sneer.  Then walk over to Harry as everyone looks at me in shock.

"There is nothing we can do I'm afraid and it's getting late. Better get you lot up to the castle" Hagrid states. Then leads us out of the forest before leading Malfoy to the dungeons while I lead the others to Gryffindor tower. We reach it ten minutes later and go to our separate dorms.
