Midnight Talk with Dumbledore

Jack's POV

I didn't go to dinner as I decided to explore the castle after finishing homework in Snape's office. McGonagall had spoken to me about what happened at my flying lesson. Apparently Madame Hooch wanted to train me as her assistant. I agreed to it and McGonagall said she would organize a broom for Harry & I. Apparently he got on the Gryffindor Quidditch team as their Seeker. I plan on asking him how later.

Right now I am near the library in a large open room and only a mirror in it. I walked to it and read the inscription: Mirror of Erised. Then looked into the mirror and saw me surround by my family. My Mother, Father and Harry with me being my true self. Not hiding who I really am. It was always my dream to have a life like that. So I released this mirror shows someone their deepest desire. I smiled at my family teary eyed. I look just like my parents and mix between both, while Harry looked just like our father except for his green eyes.

"Jack what a surprise to see you here" a voice said behind me. I turned and saw Dumbledore giving me a smile. "Want you see?" he asks curiously pointing to the mirror.

"I believe you know sir" I tell him quietly as I look at my family in the mirror again.

"Yes, I do, but it would not do you any good to dwell on dreams Jack. Others have wasted away looking at the mirror, trying to make what they see a reality" he warns me.

"But why does it have to be a dream? Why can't I be my true self?" I ask him. "Why do I have to be treated differently?" I ask as I look at the ground. Trying to hid the tears that wanted to fall.

"Because you are special and people well what you are their side. And They won't stop until you join them or are dead" he answered.

"You're talking about Voldemort and he is gone" I state.

"There are ways  in which he can return Jack, I have told you this" he replies. "It would have been better for your safety if no one knew your relation to Harry. But that cannot be helped as you look alike. However, as long as you are at Hogwarts and I am around you are safe" he states.

"Then why can't I be treated like everyone else? Or at least tell Harry the truth?" I ask.

"Has Severus not told you of your importance? You are the only one who can truly protect Harry. As you two have a link, that no one else can understand. As you are twins" he states. "Now the mirror will be moved in a few weeks, please do not come back to look into it" he says and I nod my head.

"What about Harry? What if he sees the mirror and looks into it. He'll see my true self" I say.

"No it shows one's deepest desire, his would be a real family like yours is. He will not see your true self as he doesn't not know it. And if he does, I'll inform him that it is his desire that you were that person" he explains. I sigh, I hate having to hid my true self especially from Harry.

"How is Fluffy?" I ask changing the subject as I headed towards him.

"He is well and is already in position, as is the protection you helped Severus make" he informs me with a smile. "Now I believe it is past your bedtime, I have had the elves send food to your room. As I did not see you at dinner" he tells me with a smile.

"Of course, good night Professor Dumbledore" I say as I head towards the door.

"Good night Jack" he says as I close the door behind me. As I went to Gryffindor tower I felt like Harry was in danger. So I run to the third floor right hand corridor and saw him corner with three others. I saw Mr Filch heading their way and decided to stale him.

"Mr Filch, you have to come quickly!" I yell running over to him and his cat Mrs Norris. "Peeves is reeking havoc in the kitchens" I tell him.

"Peeves! Come along Mrs Norris we'll have him thrown out for sure this time" he tells his cat as they run off. I then headed towards the door I saw the others at. Just as I arrived they slammed it shut and Hermione locked it.

"Come on guys, before Filch returns" I tell them.

"Jack" they all say in surprise.

"Yes that is my name, don't wear it out. Now come on, lets return to Gryffindor Tower before we get into trouble" I state. They nod their heads in agreement and we run back to the fat lady's portrait. She trued to ask why we were out so late, but we interrupted her yelling "Caput Draconis" and she lets us in.

Neville went immediately to bed while Hermione turned to Harry and Ron. They were talking about Fluffy and she was telling them that he was guarding something. "Now if you three don't mind I'm going to be. Before any of you come up with an other idea to get us killed or worst expelled" she finishes storming up the girls staircase.

"She needs to sort out her priorities" Ron tells Harry.

"Why were you four out so late any way?" I ask.

"Malfoy challenged me to a duel and I accepted it. Hermione came to stop us saying it was a trap. And Neville had forgotten the password again. But they couldn't reenter the common room as the fat lady had left her portrait" Harry states.

"Then Filch showed up instead of Malfoy and we made a run for it. Ended up in the corridor you found us in and nearly got killed by a three headed dog" Ron finishes.

"And what's this I hear about you being on the Quidditch team?" I ask Harry with a raised eyebrow.

"Malfoy stole Neville's remembrall and went to put it on the roof after you left the flying lesson. I followed and caught it after he throw it by diving & not falling off my broom" Harry explains.

"Ok, that's all my questions answered good night" I say before heading to my room. Although I heard Harry trying to ask me something. But I was to tired to talk anymore. I'll talk to him tomorrow about it.
