I woke up to a bright lightness, and opened my eyes. I was still in the hospital room, I looked around to see my mother resting on a chair, facing the window. I reached up my arm, setting it on her shoulder. She stirred, then woke up, jumping up when she saw me.

“You’re awake.” She said.

“I am,” I continued.

“The nurse said you have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks, just to make sure you’re fully treated.” She said, hoping I’d take the news okay. I nodded,

“I understand, with every bad thing, comes a consequence.” I said. She smiled, admiring me.

“My goodness Cadence, you are so wise, I wish your sister was a smart and wise as you,” She said. I raised my eyebrows.

“Really? I thought you always favorited her.” I said. She looked down,

“Ever since me and your dad divorced, she wasn’t the same old Brittany. She had changed, attitude, things she liked, what she wore, everything.“ She said. My jaw dropped.

“Really? Do you think it was Dad?” I asked. She shrugged lightly

“I think we need to tell Brittany about him,” She said.

“No,” I sat up. She sighed.

“She has a right to know,” She said. I looked down.

“I’ll tell her, only if you’re in the same room.” I said. She nodded. Someone knocked at the door and then a nurse came in.

“Good morning Cadence, you have some visitors, would you like to see them?” She asked. I nodded faintly, she then walked out. The door reopened, and 6 people came in.

Gemma, Liam, Harry, Niall, Zayn, and Louis.

“Hey guys,” I said. They all smiled.

“Caden!” Gemma rushed over to me.

“Gem!” I squealed. We hugged, and she sat down next to me. The guys sat down as well.

“How are you feeling?” Liam asked. I felt butterflies swirl around in my stomach.

“I’ve been better,” I said. They smiled.

“How’s School been?” I asked. They rolled their eyes playfully.

“It’s been better,” Louis mocked me. All of us gave looks for a second then we all bursted into a fit of laughter.

“Offended sir Louis,” I said. He scoffed.

“Back at you,” He said.

“How has Brittany been?” I asked Harry. He shrugged.

“We’ve been fighting lately,” He said, looking down.

“Well, not to interfere, Brittany doesn’t have the best history, so just watch your back, keep your eyes open.” I said, he smiled.

“Thanks.” He said. I yawned.

“Well, we should go, you need sleep.” Niall said.

“Alright, thanks for coming.” I said. They nodded and walked out. I then slowly fell asleep.

*2 weeks later*

I sat up, adjusting my hospital clothes. Then Gemma walked in, with a bag of mcdonalds.

“I had to sneak this in, you better be thankful.” She said. I laughed.

“Thank you so much, I have been dying to eat real food.” I said. She laughed, setting the bag down.

I took the pure deliciousness out of the bag, and scarfed it down. No, breathed it down, as I must correct.

“Jeez Caden, you’re going to choke and die!” Gem squealed.

“Psh, in brittany’s dreams.” I said. She laughed.

I finished my food, and got up slowly.

“Take a walk with me?” I asked. She nodded. She stood up, I put my elbow up, resting it on her shoulder, holding me up. We walked out of the room, throwing away the McDonald’s bag.

We were walking when we saw my mom and Brittany around the corner.

“I don’t get why I have to see her! She is so unlike us, I am ashamed to be near her! She ruined us, mom!” Brittany screamed.

My mom sighed, giving up. “Whatever, I’m leaving!” Brittany squeaked, stomping away. She turned around, running into a girl, about our age. The girl fell, her school papers flew everywhere, like rain, and Brittany just yelled a string of curse words, stomping away. Me and Gemma rushed to her.

“Oh my gosh, are you okay?!” Gemma asked, bending to the ground. I slowly did the same.

The girl slowly looked up us, she didn’t say anything. Her auburn hair covered half her face, covering one eye.

“Y-yeah, I’m fine.” She said, gathering the contents of her schoolbag that fell out. I started helping her out, picking up the various papers and essays. I then handed her the papers and stood up. Me and Gemma held out our hands for her, she flinched at first, staring at our hands, then she took then, standing up.

“I’m sorry Brittany did that,” Gemma said. The girl furrowed her eyebrows.

“Who?” She asked softly.

“Brittany, the girl that ran into you, she isn’t the nicest person ever.” Gemma said. The girl nodded.

“Well, anyway, I’m Gemma, and this is my best friend Cadence, but she prefers Caden.” Gemma said. I nodded.

“I’m Cynthia, but I go with ‘Thia’.” She said silently. We nodded. I looked down and noticed her converse. I almost dropped to the floor and bowed to her as a god.

“My god, I love your shoes!” I piped. They were red with sequins.

“Thanks,” She said.

“Cynthia? Cynthia!” A woman yelled. Cynthia looked behind us.

“Coming Mother!” She yelled back. She smiled at us faintly before running off.

Me and Gemma gave each other looks, wanting to know more of Thia.

...

A/N: So, New Character, huh? This character was a winner from a contest that I did when I originally posted this book, and so I faintly remember things about her. I wish I could go back and see what the actual stuff was about her. Anyway, there is like 5 chapters left in this book and I am starting to write the sequel. Send in ideas, I need feedback yo.
