The man stumbled behind Jack, jogging slightly to keep up with him as he walked through the large house and out the exit. Such a puny man with such a large responsibility. A disgrace to his captain. He knew Rosalina would be floating around her room, dancing to imaginary music in a daydream of what could have been if that night hadn't happened. He wished he could have been there to see it, the fiercest pirate in the seven seas dancing alone to the silence with a sad smile on her face.
Instead, he was stuck with the pathetic dwarf behind him. "Um, as much as I love a little mystery, I'd like to know where we're going." Jack only grunted in response, choosing to ignore the man. "Jack is it? Who is that woman?" When the man received a grunt in response once more he continued, not taking the hint. "I mean, is she Gaspar's niece? Wife? Lover? Daughter?"
Though Jack's muscles tensed he refused an answer, leaving the merchant to wonder. "Can't be a wife, not with the way she acted. And a daughter was never heard of from Gaspar." He seemed out of breath but continued nonetheless. "Lover, maybe?" He paused for a second. "God I hope not."
Within a second, Jack had his hand wrapped around the merch's neck, lifting him off the ground. He clawed for air but Jack didn't relent. "She is too good for you. You are nothing but a rat, the lowest of scum and she is the lion, the king. You are lucky to have been in her presence and survive, be grateful and don't ask for more. Or I'll take care of you personally." With a last growl, Jack released the man, who dropped to the ground gasping for air. Jack gave him a few seconds to recover before pulling by the collar of his shirt and lifted him off the ground with a hard pull. "Come, your ships await, merchant."
In a raspy voice, he managed to breath out as his legs fumbled under him for speed. "It's Foster Moreau." Jack ignored and trotted on.
The useless excuse wasn't worth his Captain. She deserved the best, and he'd give it to her no matter what the consequences demanded. His loyalty was more than a simple life debt, and he'd do anything for her. One wrong move from Foster and he'd take him out. He was a threat to his Captain until proven otherwise.
And like the perfect right hand, he was, he eliminated threats before they became a problem.
Foster stopped speaking on the way to the boats.
