I woke up to Tobias kissing me softly. My eyes flutter open as I moved slightly. He hesitated. "I'm sorry. I thought you were slee-" I cut him off with a kiss, caressing his face. He smiled against my lips. "Feeling. Better... Today?" He asked in between the kisses, I nodded. The shock of yesterday had mainly gone, and now I wanted to be with Tobias again. No more initiates today. It was their day off. They were part of Dauntless. We broke apart.
"Get dressed. I'll get dressed too. I need to show everyone that... It... Didn't faze me. I'm in Dauntless. I can be shown up by a pansy cake." I muttered angrily. He nodded, pressed his lips up against mine once more as he picked me up out of bed.
"Well I have figured out something special that should work for us today. And Also why don't we have some Dauntless cake for breakfast. We need to celebrate that we have you, the real you, back." He smiled. I was curious what the 'special thing' was. "Come on. I'll need your skills for it" he winked playfully. My skills? For... It?! I tensed. "No not like that!" He said quickly. I slapped myself before getting up and putting on a black low V-neck shirt and a short black skirt. I wrapped the belt around my skirt, my daggers, guns knifes fold out sword and lucky coin were tied to it.
We held hands and walk out the door, grabbing a quick bite to eat as we ran away. He guided me to the fear landscape room. I stopped "Uh... Wh-" I started. He cut me off, practically bouncing as he told me his plan. "Well since fear of heights is one of my four fears we go in the fear landscape, then you use your magic divergent powers to make us zip line in it!" He said excitedly.
I didn't know if that was possible.
"Maybe we could fly!" He added excitedly. I wonder if I could do that. Might as well give it a shot. I kissed him on the lips.
"Tobias you're a genius!" I said, he looked dazed and happy for a moment.
"Uh than-I mean. I know!" He said sarcastically in a cocky accent. I laughed.
We injected ourselves and stepped inside to face the first of four fears.
I held his hand for support, using his power and mine to change the simulation. We were on a high building, his hand tightened around mine as he gulped. "Come on. We can't get hurt in this!" I said cheerily as I dragged him with me and together we jumped off the building and soared in the sky.
I spread my arms wide and started to fly. He did the same, together we flew weightlessly in the breeze. "Tobias! We can fly!" I said, grabbing his hands and doing loop de loops in the air. He was laughing, his eyes shining with excitement. We controlled the wind. We flew together, over a valley with rolling hills as we came to our area, flying around the factions, we must have been flying together for ages, pointing out details because the serum was starting to wear off.
"Tris. It's time to go back." He said. And that was the last thing I heard before dark smoke covered me.
I woke up in his arm, caressing me. "Well that was fun. We must have been flying for hours. I feel exhausted and hungry." He said, his eyes still shining like a kids. He glanced at his watch and his eyebrows turned up slightly, surprise covered his face.
"Well it's dinner in five minutes." He said, grabbing my hand and together we cheered and whooped all the way into the dining area.
We grabbed a few pieces of cake to share as we neared our table. Tobias went ahead and sat down. "Tris. Over here!" He said, waving me over. At the mention of my name every head in the hall turned. I could feel many eyes boring into me. I gulped, suddenly they stampeded over. "Tris are you okay?" Was the starter question. Many followed, I couldn't understand what anyone was saying. I looked up, where was Tobias? My stomach twisted.
"Tobias? Tobias?!" I screamed, I collapsed to the ground and started crawling. I was lifted up by strong, feminine arms. Christina.
"Tris. He is over there" relief flooded me as I ran in that direction, I tackled Tobias in a hug, "There you are" he said with a hint of worry in his voice. He hugged me and I felt protected and safe again, as if I could never be hurt, the feeling was reassuring. Clearly I'm not over my fright of losing him. I never have been and I don't think I ever will be.
"Back off!!! She's fine now. Go on. Go away and eat something!" Tobias yelled at the crowd, they awkwardly stood there and filed away quickly, back to their seating places as they started eating. I relaxed into Tobias. "Hey. It's okay. I'll always be here for you" he murmured in my ear. "'Till death do us part'... I'll always be here for you and no one is getting in my way." I promised him, keeping the vow with a kiss as our hands entwined with each other.
