Wanting A Happy Ending - Chapter 4

For the past little while, my mate has been in deep sleep, (Coma) but now she's awake. The problem?

--------

I stared at the girl I loved who was looking lost at the moment. I grounded my teeth together, wondering what to do.

I heard a click, and the door opened revealing Melissa. (The Pack Doctor) She smiled weakly at me and pointed outside.

Nodding I took one last look at Madi, and followed Melissa to the porch.

She hesistated before she spoke. "Adrian, I'm afraid Madison's going through memory loss. She just doesn't seem to remember anything that's happened after the age of 16," Melissa said fidgeting with the pen in her hands.

I shook my head, "No...no...no. She remembers. She has to remember me! This can't be happening!"

"Adrian! Please tone it down, she can hear you. You'll end up confusing her. Currently she has barely any idea who you are anymore. She is like her sixteen year old self again! Before you came back, before you two took separate ways!" Melissa half whispered, half shouted at me.

I turned around and banged my head against the outside of the house numerously. What am I supposed to do now? Help jog her memory back? Rewrite history? Damn.

"Adrian honey, quit banging your hand! Your gonna give yourself a concussion if you keep doing that!"

I flinched at her words, 'cause my head actually started to hurt.

"A-a-adrian? Is that you?" I heard my mate stutter from behind. "Adrian! You're back! You said you were never gonna come back! I'm so glad you're back!" she squealed trying to run to me while wincing every few steps from the pain of her injuries.

I pulled her into my arms and burried my face in her neck as tears started to form.

"A, why are you crying?" she asked her voice so soft, unlike how she spoke to me just last week

I shook my head and forced a smile to my face, "It's nothing."

She moved her one arm that wasn't injured and held my face in it, "A, don't lie to me. You never cry for no reason."

"Mads, it's nothing. I'm just glad you're fine. Now let's get you home," I said as I picked her up.

She hugged onto me and breathed slowly as her heart was beating rapidly for me.

"Can't wait to see mum and dad," she muttered as she yawned.

Oh sh*t. I forgot. Her parents died when she was seventeen. Of course she wouldn't remember. I just remained silent as I carried her back to the pack house, with her fast asleep.

"Aid! How is she?" Bev asked rushing into the room.

I scrunched up my face, "She can't remember anything after her sixteenth birthday."

Her eyes shot wide in surprise. "B-but that means she doesn't remember how you--"

"Exactly," I sighed.

"Do you plan on telling her?" she asked as she glanced over at Madi who was now lightly snoring.

"I don't know if I want her to know the truth...but it wouldn't be a pretty sight if her memories came back, and she figured I was lying; if I did start to lie," I replied brushing hair off my mate's face.

"So you're gonna try to jog her memory back?"

I nodded, "It's better that way. If I were in her shoes, I would probably want to know the truth. I wouldn't wanna life my life full of lies."

"So how are you gonna jog the memories back though?"

I shrugged, "I'm gonna need everyone's help."

-Two Weeks Later-

"Adrian! Where's my parents! Why hasn't they came to see me yet!" Madi screamed from the living room. She was staring at Austin and Bev's triplets, still wondering when her friend even got pregnant.

I bit my lip, deciding on whether it's time to tell her yet.

"Aid, she needs to know," Bev said before she started cooing at her baby toddler Hailey.

"Mads c'mere," I said patting the seat beside me on the couch.

It's been two weeks since she's woken up, and I've hidden her parents death news from her.

She eyed me suspiciously, and sat down beside me, resting her head on my shoulders.

"Mads, your parents passed away three years ago. They were in the law building doing their job, when a fire came up."

She looked at me in shock then in disgust, "Adrian! How could you joke about this! Three years ago? Three years ago I was thirteen! They were clearly alive. I would remember. I mean I just saw them a month ago!"

"Madi, that's the thing. You didn't see them three months ago. You're not sixteen... you're twenty," I said sternly.

"Twenty? Not sixteen?"

"Yes. Twenty, not sixteen," I confirmed.

"Stop playing this sick joke! It's not even possible!" she shouted getting up immediately. "Beverly, tell Adrian to stop! To stop lying!"

I rubbed my temples and shook my head.

"Madi! Stop screaming, and take in what Adrian said!" Beverly shouted as she tried to stop Hailey from crying due to the loud screams that were hitting her sensitive ears.

Madi just kept screaming, not wanting to accept the truth. I know it's a lot to take in, but she has to know sooner or later.

"Madi, the thing is Adrian's not lying," Beverly whispered putting Hailey down. "You've been in an accident around a month ago. You were being happy from being asked out on a date by Clyde and then just so happen the timing was just that accurate...a truck hit you. You  went into coma for two entire weeks. Right now you're facing memory loss."

"No! No! No!" Madi screamed covering her ears. "Both of you are lying!"

Before I could stop her, she ran upstairs and slammed her bedroom door close. I heard her cries, which made my heart squeeze.

I got up to go comfort her, but Beverly put a hand to my chest to stop me. "Adrian don't. Give her some time."

I let out a breath and looked up the stairs, staring at the blank door that belonged to my mate's room. Ignoring my wolf, who wanted desperately to be present with it's mate, I nodded and went back to the couch and turned my attention to baby Hailey to distract myself.

I tickled Hailey, which in response she giggled. She started drooling as she giggled. Suddenly she burped, then cried.

"Bev...what's with Hailey?" I asked concerned.

"Well I just fed her, and well sniff the air Aid, what does it seem like?"

I took a big whift of the air and started coughing. Hailey took a dump.

"Austin!" Bev screamed picking up Hailey, "Hays took a dump and well you're cleaning the sh*t this time!"

I heard Austin groan from the kitchen, then entered pinching his nose. "Alright, where's my stinky baby girl?"

I glanced between them then at Hailey who's face was starting to turn red. I think I'm starting to hope for kids of my own one day...just if I could get my own mate to fall in love with me.
