Jyn pov:
The blast from the Death Star has hit us. But we aren't dead.
I stand in the embrace of Cassian, whose attempt to shield me has apparently done something. Yet, I realize it is not him creating a bubble around our bodies.
My necklace, a kyber saber crystal gifted to me by my mother, is glowing blue. It illuminates the little space between our bodies.
Cassian realizes that we aren't dead and looks down at me. He gives me a smirk saying that he is confused. I understand why he is bewildered.
"What is happening? Should we find a way out?" I question him. "What should...." He silences me with a single finger pointing to the sky.
The blast has stopped destroying the area around us because there is nothing left to demolish. The once lush trees and bushes of Scarif are now nothing more than ashes. The water that surrounded everything has evaporated and left nothing to replace it. The tower that rose above it all has disappeared with everything else, leaving no trace it ever existed.
I see what Cassian was pointing to. A transport had swooped down in the wreckage carrying a face that is well known throughout the galaxy.
Princess Leia Organa was standing on the ramp with several rebel soldiers reaching out to save us.We are going to live.
For now.
