Wednesday, after school
I check my phone, a message from Anthony.
School, west wing, straight after school.

I make my way towards performing arts department, the west wing.

As I walk in, I notice pictures of previous dance performances.
Amazing.
I've always loved to dance. It's the one thing where I can stand out as much as I want, and I don't start to sweat thinking about all the eyes looking at me. I feel like a river. Not awkward, not self-conscious, just flowing.

Someone taps me on the shoulder and I jump, going back to reality.
"I take it you like dance, right?"
"Oh, I" My eyes trail off and glance back at the posters.
"I was just curious,"
He raises an eyebrow but doesn't argue.
"I know just the place to go." He says. But before I can ask where, he pulls my hand.
We spend the next 40 minutes in a car, listening to Britney Spears, to make the time pass quicker.
The song ends and I turn towards Anthony.
"You're still not going to tell me where we're going, are you?"
"No point, we'll be there in a minute." He answers, not turning his head.

A few minutes later, the car halts to a stop. We pull up and walk a bit. I see it. The Griffith observatory.

At first, I don't know why we're here.

I've only been here once

With my dad.

The memories come flooding back to me. It was the last time I saw my dad. Sober, at least.
Before I know it, tears pour out onto my cheek.
"How do you know?" I say squeak, in an attempt to sound confident.
"Liv, believe it or not, your dad is now my dad. Stepdad, at least."
I jump up, hitting my head on the car. He continues.
"All those years your Mom was married to him, he was dating my Mom on the side. I watched you, because I thought you would become my sister one day. After your he got out of prison, he straight away married my Mom."

I try to process all the information.
"I'm sorry Liv." He whispers.
I sit up.
"So at the party I wasn't just a random stranger?"
"Nope."
"And you know I like to dance?"
"Yes, I do."
We sit, for what feels like forever.
"I should go home, I-"
"Right," he says, starting the engine.

40 silent minutes later, the car door opens.
"Goodnight, Liv"
"Sweet dreams, Anthony"
I wave him off and the car drives away into the distance.

I'm walk down the street and turn the corner.
I freeze when I see what's coming up.
4 men in masks.
Coming towards me.
Then, the world goes black.

~wipes sweat off forehead~
Phew, that was intense.
Sorry I haven't been posting. This took a while to write. Do you want Liv to meet her Dad, or nah?
Make sure to read next chapter, things will be a little less, uh, dark.
Before I sign off I want to share this meme. The world needs to see this.
