Love,

I was in a completely iron cell. There wasn't a window or crack of space for even the tiniest bit of air to get in. I wondered how I wasn't dead yet. My magic was cut off, with no circulation I should die within an hour or so, based on how drained I was. How long had I been in here? How did I even get here? Think, Allani. Think.

Screams. Blood. Whips. I remembered. I sacrificed myself to save Taklit, to save my mate. I took a breathe. In and out. I reached behind me and gently probed my back. Pain so intense I blacked out, shot through me. My vision returned and I sat, crumbled on the floor, until the pain had reduced back to a dull throb. Nobody had bothered healing my back in that case.

There was a loud creaking and the roof of my cell was lifted off by a strange, primal mechanism. I looked up, my eyelids growing heavier by the second. A figure dropped into my cell the removed the hood shading his face from my view.

More screams, this time mine. "Well, if it isn't the grand Tenebrii. I can't express how much it joys me to see your face is healing." I said sarcastically with a mock bow. My voice was so raw from his torture that I didn't recognize my own voice. Tenebrii just smiled at me, the promise of unbearable torment in his eyes.

"Why thank you. It has been healing remarkably well with my powers, I might add. I wonder, how is my nuisiance's, who so kindly gave me the gash across my eyes, back healing? I do hope someone came to visit and heal her." I batted my eyes. Better for him not to know how much those lashings killed me.

"No matter. You know your methods won't work on me." Every breathe was beginning to sear my throat. I didn't let it show.

"Ah, so she says. My dear Alaani, I have missed you so. I think it is time we have another visit, you and I." His voice hinted at something darker then what was normal.

"And what might this visit end in this time?" I asked with a simpering smile. "Will you whip me again? Or perhaps you enjoyed the poisoning more. Being buried alive seemed to overjoy you."

He smiled, so dark it took all my willpower not to shiver. "No I think I have figured out something much worse for you. You are my top priority, you know." The roof began to close and my mind started racing. He hadn't brought any tools down with him and he wasn't getting out.

The roof shut, cutting out all light and any hope for escape. It was so cold down here. There were hands on my arms and I screamed myself awake.

"Alaani! Alaani, wake up!" Ace was shaking my shoulders. I was soaked in sweat. I jolted up and realized were I was. Safe, in my own room in the Silvermoon clan's headquarters. But, there was something off.

"Ace it's freezing in here. What's going on?" Now that I was out of my tangle of blankets, the cold sliced through me like a knife.

Ace's eyes were wide as he frantically spoke. "It's Asher. There's something wrong with him. His room is a frigid wasteland and I can't make it through the blizzard to find him. I was hoping, with your powers, you could." I was up and tugging on my fireproof gear before he could finish talking.

"I want you to check the floors above and below, make sure the cold is contained to this room. I don't want any structural damage or any vampires asking questions. Go." Ace nodded and sprinted out of the room. I turned towards Asher's door, bracing myself. "Of all powers, why did he have to have ice?" I said softly to myself then yanked open the door.

Ice. Snow. Wind. White. There was nothing beyond that. I was sucked into the room by a brutal wind and the door slammed shut behind me. Snow and sleet whipped around me at hundreds of miles per hour. I could barely stay standing. Flying wasn't an option.

I slowly struggled to move forward, one foot in front of the other. The cold was pushing at me so hard, pushing at the magic straining to melt any ice before it hit me while keeping me warm in the below freezing temperatures. My fire was sputtering the further I got into the room.

Everything was centered around one point, I assumed that point was Asher. The closer I got, the harder it was to move and the worse the conditions became. There was now huge chunks of ice the size of tennis balls tumbling through the air and massive icicles hung from the ceiling only to drop a few seconds later. My fire couldn't keep up.

I slipped on a patch of ice and at that moment, I was caught in a gust of wind and thrown to the floor. I flipped onto my back just in time to see one of the icicles plummeting for me. I threw up my hands in desperate attempt to melt it but didn't complete the task in time. The icicle shrank slightly and plunged deep through my shoulder.

The second the cry left my mouth, the room froze in place. Balls of ice hung suspended in midair. The wind silenced it's shrieking and was no where to be found. Snowflakes shimmered but remained in place. The room was clear, calm and quiet. In the center of it, was Asher, breathing heavily and tensed upright on his bed. It was the only sound.
