He looked over his shoulder at me and chuckled. It was a deep, dark sound that revealed the demon hiding under his skin. Tenebrii eyes flicked down, his gaze slowly devouring my entire body and then he was gone.
I heard the iron close with a bang and I collapsed. I tried to crawl to the corner but I didn't make it in time, I threw up all over myself. Not that it really mattered, I was filthy in every way. I had been roughly scrubbed clean before Tenebrii came but I felt like there was even more filth on me then before.
I curled into a ball, hugging my knees to my chest. It was freezing in this dark dungeon and the iron prevented me from warming up, not to mention Tenebrii had taken the rags I had considered clothing. I gently rocked myself back and forth, trying not to panic.
The more you panic, the worse it becomes. Words of advice given to me by my combat trainer. I took deep breaths. In and out, in and out. An image flashed through my head and I froze. It's over. I reassured myself. Just breath. Another image and I felt like spiders were crawling all over my bare skin. My breath quickened.
The iron groaned open and I shot to my feet. I didn't want them to see weakness. Better to go on then let them know they've broken me. Four unfamiliar figures, cloaked in shadow, dropped into my cell. I heard a clanging in their robes. My heart pounded.
"New visitors? Who do I get to thank for this wonderful change!" I spoke, my raspy voice ruining the image of cheerfulness.
They didn't respond. The figures just kept walking silently towards me. I tried to keep my face blank but I was betrayed when my eyes widened at the reveal of the clanking. My breath and heartbeat skyrocketed. My original guess was right, they were carrying iron chains.
I backed into the wall as they continued closer. I whimpered.
"Please...please don't..." my voice was a dead whisper. My hands were trembling. Not again. Not so soon. Please. Please no. They just moved silently forward. My arms went limp to my sides when they put the first shackle around my left wrist.
I stood there, silent and broken as they shackled my wrists, then my ankles. I did not have the strength to fight as they lifted my arms and holes appeared in the wall behind me. One end of a chain went in and my leg was violently yanked back into the wall. The next chain was sucked up by another hole and my arm was pinned above my head to the wall. I was shaking.
They finished chaining me until my arms and legs couldn't move from their positions on the wall. My head dropped to my chest and I went limp against the wall as the four figures left. I hadn't noticed that the doors weren't closing.
My head shot back up as I heard a familiar voice drawl. "Well, well, well. Look at you. All hung up on the wall like my own personal view." I snarled and glared at Tenebrii as his gaze raked my body again.
"Naughty, little girl..." Faster than I could blink, he had his body pressed up against mine, his face a breath's width from mine and his hand on my jaw, keeping me looking at him. "We'll have none of that."
I bared my teeth at him, realizing my mistake too late. He smiled a shark's smile and licked inside my mouth before I could close it. I fought against it but I couldn't stop the shudder rising inside me. He laughed like the demon he was and his hands slowly moved along my body.
I lost all hope as the doors shut, leaving me in the darkness.
. . .
I screamed myself awake. Ace and Asher were instantly over me, a hand on each shoulder. Out of instinct, I scrambled away to the other side of the room before I realized what was going on. Ace's eyes were wide with shock and Asher's had gone completely black.
I blinked then my head dropped into my hands. I curled into a ball and realized I was trembling. Ace's arms wrapped around me, holding me tight and I heard a low growl. I looked up, fearful in my moment of weakness, and found Asher's dark eyes holding my gaze.
He shook his head and rubbed his eyes. When he looked back up, his eyes had returned to their normal icy blue. Moving faster than I thought possible, he took one of my hands in his and started stroking my hair with the other.
My head dropped again and we all stayed there, in a trance, for a while. I fell back asleep in Ace's arms, holding Asher's hand.
