As soon as Natsu opened the door, he was already halfway across the room flopped on the couch.
"Oh Natsu, you seem to have quite a lot of energy today!" Lucy laughed patting Natsu's head before kneeling down to dig through the chest next to the couch.
Natsu crawled to the armrest of the couch and stared at Lucy.
"Luce," he began, "what did that guy do to you?"
Lucy stopped. She stared into the box for a while before beginning again.
"I don't want to talk about it." She replied in a hoarse tone.
"Come on Luce! You can trust me right?" Natsu asked. He took his hand and stroked a strand of her hair back behind her ear so he could see her face clearly.
"It's not that I-I don't trust y-you. I-I just don't want to think about it. It's scarred me and I just want to forget it ever happened." Lucy mumbled shaking the strand of hair back to its place to try and hide her blush.
Natsu frowned. He was becoming raged.
"That punk! I'm gonna find him and make him sorry for even thinking about touching you!" Natsu exclaimed. He began to get up, but his rage barely got him anywhere. Before he could even get off the couch Lucy jumped onto his back holding him close to make sure he wouldn't go anywhere.
"No, Natsu," she yelled, clutching him closer, "I don't want you to leave! I've been away so long and I can't bare any more separation because..."
She stopped. She could feel her pulse in her fingers, her toes. The lump in her throat stopped all air and words to escape. Natsu waited...and waited. His heart raced too wondering if she was feeling the same.
Natsu finally built up the courage to peer over his shoulder.
"Luce?" He whispered stroking her fingers that were placed on his chest. They embraced him like a piece of clothing. But her touch felt like magic. Whenever her fingers came into contact with him, a bit of warmth flared in the area.
"No...it's nothing." She replied crawling away.
Natsu caught her hand and twisted his head around to where he could see her.
"Lucy...tell me." Natsu whispered intensely. He couldn't let her go now. Not when she was about to say something so important.
One tear slipped her eyes which Natsu quickly wiped it away as he cradled her head. As his hand connected with her head, his whole body shivered with the feeling of delight from his heart. She trembled in his arms. She wanted to admit it, but she couldn't. When she opened her mouth, nothing came out.
"Lucy...please..."
"I-I...I love y-you..."she whispered so softly that if one other sound was in the room, you wouldn't have been able to hear her.
Natsu froze. Eyes shrunk. Breath stuck. Heart beating at the speed of light.
Lucy looked down in disappointment.
"I knew you wouldn't like me. I'm just not good enough. I'm sorry I told you. Now our friendship is-"
But she couldn't finish because Natsu had smashed his lips against hers in a sloppy fashion. Lucy's eyes went wide with surprise and sheer happiness. Her heart tapped as fast as a drum. Her stomach dropped to her feet. The kiss only lasted a second, but it felt like an eternity.
Natsu pulled away staring straight into Lucy's soul. The intensity between the two built up quickly with each passing second. Until the silence was killed with five words.
"I love you too, Luce." Natsu smirked. Lucy smiled and pressed her lips softly against his slowly moving her hands to wrap around him. Natsu then pulled her waist into his lap where she wrapped her legs around his body.
Lucy pulled away causing Natsu to moan for more. He gave her a look of question. She only laughed. She then messed up his hair while placing one kiss on his forehead before going to finish going through her clothing.
"Oh no you don't!" Natsu laughed attacking Lucy from behind.
