Prologue
I run around the backyard laughing and being chased by my dad. Mum sits on a deck chair and sips on a lemonade, she just finished planting her tulips.
After a while, I had fallen asleep on the green grass and so my dad picks me up and carries me to my bedroom.
That was the last happy moment I remember before my dad left, it was ten years ago when I was six. Now I'm 16.
Ever since then my one-eyed mum has been looking after me in this small town in California.
