"Make way! Make way!" A maid cleared the crowd formed around the accident scene, as Martha hastily followed her.Nancy, who was inspecting the dead body, which has just recently been taken out of the well, immediately reached Martha's side when she saw her proceeding towards the scene.
"Ma, you shouldn't....." Leo tried to stop the old soul from seeing the gruesome sight, but Martha had her own plans. She pushed passed her, to see the dead body hidden behind her.
"Dio mio!" She gasped at the sight. She further neared the body,
" What do you think Leo?" She asked, A shrill in her voice, that indicated the fear she was trying to hide. Jane has been brutally assaulted before she was killed, as shown by her wounds inflicted on her face, limbs , and chest, the clothes she was wearing has also been deformed, or better shredded.
Martha looked around, but couldn't find Leo around the scene
"Where is Leo?" Martha asked Nancy
"Leo is interrogating people who have last seen her. Her body has turned blue from the sliver injected in her body. She must have been dead for almost 72 hours!" Nancy exclaimed
Martha just nodded and was inspecting the wounds, when She saw a very familiar looking, circular wounds behind her ears. It was small but prominent wound. The same wound was on Tisha when she was found few hours earlier, but these were more deeper and looked more fatal.
"Its not just sliver" She muttered
" Disperse the crowd" Martha ordered.
" and Send the body for postmortem," She ordered, before the body was taken away.
"What do we do?" Nancy asked
"Seal the well, and call for a meeting. Let everyone know, that, no one is to walk alone after dark. Tighten the security around the borders. I want all Alphas, safely escorted back toward their packs, its not safe for them to be here" Martha ordered. But the real reason was that she trusted no one. Sending the Alphas and their people back meant, lessening the number of people in the town. It wound not only ensure that the news and information to stay inside the town, but also, secure the Kings position, so no power hungry Alpha would use the situation as an opportunity
Tisha laid on the bed, stressing her memory from few hours ago, to remember what has happened to her after she ran away from the shape-sifter. It was like her memory of those few hours has been deleted, like a computer data, as she couldn't remember how she got the wounds or came back to the castle.
A sudden knock brought her back to her senses.
A maid entered, she was holding a tray, with a bowl, which she guessed was soup.
The maid quietly, set the tray on the table. She then took the spare spoon on the side of the bowl and dipped it in the soup before, sipping on it.
"Its safe, Luna, you can have it now" She confirmed
Tisha watched the whole process in amusement.
"You didn't have to do it, you know. I trust you" She said
"Its not about your majesty's trust on us, Its about your majesty's security. From now on all edibles are going to be tasted before the your majesties consumed it." She said in a monotonous voice
She just nodded and smiled to show how much she appreciated the effort.
"Risking your own life to keep other's safe is not an easy task. You are very brave, Thank you!" Tisha Said
"Its our duty" The maid replied with a smile, as she bowed down.
Tisha then drank the soup, without a word, while the maid, stood beside her. Once Tisha was finished, The maid started to collect the dished, when Tisha suddenly said, "Can you please call Jane for me, I wanted to ask her some questions"
To the question, the maid's hand started shaking, and for a moment Tisha thought she might just let go of the tray.
"Are you okay?" Tisha asked, nervously
"Yes, your Majesty!" She said, but her shivering body and stuttering voice did add up to confirmation.
"give me that tray, and you please sit" Tisha said, and took the tray from her hands, before pulling her beside her.
"Calm yourself. Is everything fine, Tell me honestly." Tisha asked
The maid suddenly started to weep,
"Jane...........Se was found dead thus morning" the maid wept
"What?" Tisha was suddenly out of breath, "How?" She asked
"No one knows" She wept even harder.
Once the maid had calmed down,
" Can, you call Martha for me please" Tisha asked, with fearful voice
"Sure you majesty" The maid said still sniffing. She the took the tray, from the side table and left.
Soon Martha entered the room,
Tisha without a word, tugged her hair behind her ear before scratching her nose, and Martha holding her chest, coughed in reply
As soon as the Martha coughed,
"I heard about Jane" Tisha said
"I see" Martha said quiety and sat on the near Tisha
"What happened?" Tisha asked
"nothing could be confirmed, but she has been dead for more than three days" Martha informed
" But I saw her just yesterday." Tisha, gasped
"It was not her, the real Jane has been killed much before that, I suspect" Martha said
"So, you mean it's the same creature?" Tisha asked
"I think so" Martha replied
"We have to find for the person whose injury matches my description and fast before he could harm someone else." Said Tisha
"I have to tell you something" Martha said seriously
"What?" Tisha asked anxiously
"This morning when I went to inspect the dead body I saw a person with wound that matches your description." Martha whispered
"What?" Tisha shrieked
"Bite mark on the left arm!" Martha said more to herself
"Who is it?" Tisha asked anxiously
"Its Nancy!" said Martha
