"The food was amazing William, everything was exactly how I liked, so I guess you did a good job. I'm proud of you," Noora said with an unrepentant grin, standing at Amalie's nursery door as she watched him putting a blanket over her sleepy body.

"I have? Whew, that was a close call," William answered as Noora moved towards her sleeping angel, laying a soft kiss on her head before tucking the blanket tighter around her and placing her teddy bear on the bed beside her.

"Do you have to work tomorrow?" Noora hoped not, because only one day of his unwavering attention just wouldn't do.

"Yeah, I do. Dad's managed to call in some hefty investors and as CEO, I really need to be there. They're still getting used to the idea of a young CEO and I don't want to give them even an inch of space to use that against me."

William kept on massaging Noora's feet that were in his lap as they chilled out in front of the television.

"I get it." She took off her feet from his lap and turned around so she was lying in the crook of his arm with her head lying on his shoulder.

"I know you do," William whispered as he threaded his fingers through her hair, mindlessly playing with it. He was feeling at peace, a feeling that he had long ago come to associate with Noora. Sometimes he was still amazed that she actually fought for him, given the way he acted like a jerk, he wouldn't have been surprised if she'd completely washed her hands off them.

The pleasure of having her in his arms and knowing his daughter was sleeping soundlessly in the room next door was to him, unrivaled and a rarity. After his sister's death and Niko's further downward spiral, he'd completely forgotten what normal felt like. Not that his junkie mother and absentee father tried too hard to instill that in them. It felt like a forever ago, when the mere thought of his beloved sister lying dead next to him, in the backseat of that car, didn't catapult him into a Land of Pain. And, the credit to that and for any happiness he'd felt in these years was solely Noora's. Her fight, her sweetness, her forgiving nature and her understanding was all that could save him from the black and white world he'd immersed himself in during his school years.

Adjusting her slightly in his arms since she seemed to have fallen asleep, he couldn't help but place a soft kiss on her hair, as she snuggled closer into his warmth.

A smile spread across his face when he remembered the beginnings of their exciting but satisfying relationship.

In all his years of people treating him like an unofficial king, he had never once considered the way the girls he'd fucked felt about him dismissing them so easily. In his black and white mindset, his clear warning of not to get attached should have been enough. That's why the ones who kept themselves in accordance to his rules, found themselves in the honorable position of being a blip on his radar while the others just became strangers he'd slept with.

William, in all his fuckboy glory and not giving a shit about anything could never have foreseen a dressing down out on the school yard infront of his friends by a girl who was a no one but seemed to have no qualms about ripping into him.

After an eternity, William was impressed and he knew how much in danger that girl was now. It had been a long time since a girl had caught his eye, not because she was dressed in slutty clothes but simply because she'd not thought twice before standing up for her friend, who even he had to admit he'd put down quite ruthlessly.

And to him friendship was something unique, something to be respected because it was Chris and the rest of the guys who were there to help him through the dark times and that meant having their backs in every situation.

So as he saw the intriguing but beautiful girl walk away, hitting his shoulder with her's as she went, the first thing he did after her posse had also left was tell Chris,
