Anna POV

After fourth period Michael and I met by our lockers and headed towards the cafeteria for lunch. " Watch out for flying basketballs," Michael remarked as he pushed against one side of the double doors letting me in.

"Ha,ha, ha, very funny," I laughed sarcastically.

We grabbed lunch and headed to a table in the back, eating quickly we got prepared to go to the library to meet wih the others from our history group,

"Did you bring the stuff you already have on Egypt?" Ashley asked directed towards Michael as she approached us at the front of the cafeteria.

Michael nodded with a smile as he walked and Ancient Egypt book in the air.

I glanced away from the group and looked around the cafeteria and I noticed Jacob pointing towards me followed by members of the table glancing my direction. He was probably just telling him I was his tutor and how much of a geek he thought I was but the attention made me uncomfortable so I looked down at my shoes.

"Where's Amarie?" as he checked his watch for the third time, "I told her to be here."

""Probably under the bleachers as usual," Ashley remarked, "Can you go get her?" she asked looking up at me.

"M-Me?" I said stunned.

"Uh huh," she said with a nod.

Knowing that I wouldn't be able to get out of this I sighed and headed out to find Amarie.

I walked across the lush green field as I approached the bleachers where a couple of kids stood around. I've never been here during lunch and it was clear to the regulars that I was an outsider.

"Whatchu doing here nerd?" one remarked as I walked pass.

"You here looking to snitch?" a closer voice sounded from behind me," Hey ! I asked you a question," the voice continued with a slight tone of anger. Suddenly I felt a shove causing me to stumble. I turned around fearfully.

"She probably came to me,"  I heard a familiar voice say suddenly, I turned around and saw Amarie, " What you doing here geek?"  she asked stepping between the guy and me.

"Um.....t-the guys sent me to g-get you for the um....the group project," I managed to get out.

"Tell them I'm coming," she said walking away as she took a puff from a joint. I nodded and turned to quickly walk back to the school building.

"How do you know her?" I heard a guy asked as I was leaving.

Shortly afterward I returned to the library to find the other surrounded by books and having light conversation about the project. " Did you find her?" Michael asked noticing my presence.

"Yeah, she said she's coming," I responded as I sat down.

"And when will that be?" Rick said as if he was drilling me for answers. I shrugged and put my hands in my hoodie pockets.

Half an hour later Amarie came strolling in the library, "What yah'll want?" she said loudly.

The middle aged librarian look over her desk, "Shh," she said slightly annoyed. Amarie retaliated by shooting her middle finger up.

"You young kids are so rude," the lady mumbled but loud enough for us to hear.

"Lunch is already almost over," Rick scoffed looking up at Amarie. I never knew he took his work so seriously, he always seemed to goof off in class.

" Well, I'm here now, ain't I?" she asked as she grabbed one of the books from off the table and slouched down next to me.

Surprisingly we got alot of work covered and we even talked and laughed alot like we've been friends forever but I knew that would all change when the project was over.
