Anna POV

After escaping from second period I headed to third period where I had a double lesson of Algebra. I quickly went back to my locker to get my History text and meet up with Michael, we had History together, thank goodness.

"Hey,Hey,Hey," Michael said approaching me cheerful, "How was second period?"

"Death, " I said as I hugged my books against my body.

"Oh, wanna talk about?" Michael asked as he got his books out his locker.

"Maybe later, let's get to History before Ms. Smith gives us detention,"

He closed his locker and we made our way to History class, making it just before the bell rang. We sat in our usual seats as Ms.Smith proceeded to tell us about a group project. As you probably already guessed I hate group projects.  She placed everyone in groups of five and handed out different assignments to each, my group was consisted of Ashley who was a cheerleader and very bubbly and very approachable unlike other cheerleaders around he school (Rebecca), also there was Rick who was on the basketball team, Amarie who was a rough wearing black and her arms covered in tattoos, she was one of the girls that smoked weed under the bleachers, she sat disgusted as she scanned who was placed in her group, then there was Michael who I was glad was in our group I wouldn't survive without him and me obviously who sat opposite Rick as we sat in a circle as Ms.Smith finished up calling the other groups.

When she was finished I felt a hand touch my shoulder, "Hiii," Ashley said bubbly as she did a light wave. I waved shyly back. Just as she was going to ask me something Amarie cut her off.

"Do you even talk dweeb?" she said directed at me.

"Come on Amarie, no need to be rude," Rick intervened.

"How is that rude? She don't say nothing much I was just wondering if she talks," she shot back almost immediately.

"She right though, you'll have to speak up a lot for the group project everyone has to present, ya know?" Ashley said turning to me as she ignored the continued bickering from Amarie and Rick.

I nodded. I looked over at Michael expecting him to intervene at any point but I noticed his attention focused on the sheet of paper handed to him by Ms.Smith.

"Egypt !" he said suddenly, causing all of us to turn to him, " I have tons of books on Egypt, I love ancient history," he smiled.

"Yay, how lucky for us to have a nerd in our group," Amarie said dryly. Rick and Ashley glared at her.

" If you gotta problem you could just leave !" Michael said suddenly surprising all of us. Seems like he even surprised himself.

"Is there a problem in the back?" Ms. Smith asked looking up from the papers that littered her desk. Everyone looked back at us and our eyes shifted between Michael and Amarie wondering who would speak first. They both stared at each other intensely.

"No problem back here, Ms. Smith," Amarie said speaking up," Is there?" she said looking at Michael.

"Nope,no problem," he said as he looked down at the paper once again.

"Well okay then," Ms. Smith said focusing her attention back to her papers even though you could tell she wasn't satisfied with that response.

For the rest of the class she allowed us to stay in our groups but Rick and Ashley just talked to their friends in the class and Amarie asked for a bathroom pass and never returned leaving me and Michael to atleast attempt to talk about the project but we ended up talking about other things.
