Anna POV
Waking up the next morning, what happened last night flashed across my mind once more. I sighed and reached over to answer my vibrating phone.
"Hello?" I answered sleepily.
"H-hey," I heard on the other end.
Recognizing the voice I was surprised and happy, we haven't spoken in two weeks," Michael?" I smiled as I sat up.
"Yeah," he chuckled," How have you been?"
"Great," I replied, " I haven't heard you since....well you know."
"Yeahh, I know, about that, I'm really sorry," he sighed apologetically," I guess I was kinda....you know."
"Kinda what?"
"Nothing..." he said quietly.
Then there was an awkward silence.
"Oh, I got into Princeton University," he said suddenly breaking the silence.
"Really,Me too !" I replied with a smile, " Wait,your dad's letting you go?"
"Yeah, but he says he's not paying for it," he sighed," I'll just get a job though."
"What did your dad say about you going to Princeton?" He asked.
I proceeded to tell him about my dad moving out and my mom's plans of a new business and the apartment.
We both had problems with our parents that why we had been such good friends, our parents always tried to lay out how our life should go.
Michael and I talked for another hour and some then the conversation started to die down.
"Um...Michael?" I said quietly," Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
" Well, you see last night at prom...." I paused.
"Jacob kissed you," he said finishing my sentence.
"How'd you know?" I asked.
"I was coming to you to tell you how beautiful you had looked," Michael responded kind of awkwardly.
"Oh thank you," I blushed, " I don't remember seeing you and Ashley there."
"We broke up," he said calmly.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, how are you holding up?"
"Good," he said simply," actually I like someone else."
"Really? Who?" I said as I took off my covers and paced around the room. This wasn't like Michael to have a crush and not tell me.
"Not important, she probably likes someone else," he stated, " Anyways I gotta go."
"Are you serious right now?" I laughed, "tell me."
"Bye," he answered I could tell that he was smiling by the sound of his voice.
"Fine," I sighed.
I wonder who his crush could be.
JACOB POV
I sat at our usual lunch table as conversations swirled around me. I grabbed my sandwich I had brought from home and placed it on the table, Monday lunch menu never appeals to me. I looked up and saw Anna looking at me, I knew she wanted me to say something about Saturday night but I couldn't because I didn't even know what it meant.....I mean it just happened.
Her friend,Michael looked at her and then at me.....did she tell him what happened? How did she feel about it? What does she think it means?
So many questions entered my mind.........it was time to bite the bullet.
"Anna can I talk to you right quick? I asked suddenly, causing the conversations going on to stop.
" Sure," she sad as she got up and headed outside. I grabbed my crutch and followed her out.
The last game is Friday, I'm excited and nervous even though there is no guarantee I'll be playing. I went in the locker room, changed into my gym clothes and sat into my wheelchair.
I trained really hard so now I"m able to play from my chair and as a reserve in Friday's big game who knows? Maybe I will get to play.
I rolled out of the locker room with the guys behind me, throwing the ball to Issa,my co-captain as I rolled over to the sidelines.
"Hey coach," I smiled as I slapped his hand.
"Latimore," he smiled back.
I looked over to the doors where the new basketballs were being pushed in and through the wide opened doors I saw August and Anna. Whatever he was telling her she was blushing and I couldn't help but feel......jealous.
Anna then left and August walked into practice.
"What's up Jake?" he smiled widely.
"What was that about?" I scolded.
He smiled mischievously and gave a slight chuckle," What was what about?"
"You know what I mean," I replied aggravated.
"Thought you didn't like her," he replied calmly.
"I don't...but she's still my friend," I said.
"You sound mighty jealous for a friend," he smiled, and it was then I knew he was testing me.
I sighed.
"I hate you so much," I growled.
"I love ya bro," he said with a laugh as he turned and went on the court.
I wasn't jealous.
I wasn't jealous.
I wasn't jea-
