Foot in mouth syndrome

Leila pov.
I fixed my husbands tie as he breathed heavily from anxiety. "You're going to do well babe" I smiled, he looked at me. He felt at ease when he saw how happy I was. I was proud of him to be talking in front of the press.

"Do not mess up mr scanlon" Aidan said as he stood beside me. I nudged Aidan who just smiled at me. "Alright let's start" Ryder said awkwardly, we nodded before walking to the room.

I stood by Ryder as the press talked to both of us. "What is your job Mr.Scanlon?" one of the press asked. "I am in the naval force" he stated which i smiled at how professional he is. The press kept asking questions about Ryders life and he answered them well. He made a joke which was pretty funny and my anxiety disappeared.

"What do you think about your wife's campaign like there are some lonely nights am I right?" One asked. I looked at Ryder wondering about his answer. Aidan looked at me and squeezed my shoulder. "well it'll be over soon" Ryder said, I looked at Ryder so confused. "You don't think Leila will win?" One of them asked, he chuckled. "Leila is too young to be running for mayor maybe when she's older" Ryder said, I was shocked.

Mel pov.

Everyone around me was shocked by what Ryder had said. Joey had popcorn in his mouth and it fell on the ground by the shock.

Ryder had just said she won't win because she's too young. This is just as bad as saying she's too old for it.

"Did you hear what Ryder just say?" Lennox asked surprised, we all nodded. Ryder looked at Leila who was just as shocked as I was. Aidan quickly rushed in and said the meeting was over.

"This is the end of her mayor career".
