Michael stood infront of the closed doors, his breathing shallow. It was about to happen. He was getting married to the man he loved.
"You ready, son?" Daryl asked, patting his boy on the back. Michael just smiled and nodded as his father fixed his tie. "I just want you to know. I am so proud of you. Even if I don't say it enough. I love you, buddy."
"I love you too, dad," he whispered, hugging him tightly.
"It's time," Ashton whispered, coming outside. Michael took a shakey deep breath and looked over as the large finished barn doors opened.
"Let's do this..."
~~~~~
Michael and Luke sat together at the table at the head of the room, laughing as Ashton gave his speech. They were happier than they had ever been before.
"I just, I want to make a point of saying I probably wouldn't have known almost any of the people in the room today if it wasn't for Michael. When I first met Michael, he sent me a text at one in the damn morning, 'Hey what's up?' To which I replied... 'nm, u?'" Everyone laughed. "Then he said 'nothing really I was just wondering of you would maybe want to hang out and maybe play drums for my band but mostly hangout.' Yeah. That's how this wonderful friendship blossomed." He looked over at his two best friends and sighed happily. "From the moment I met Michael and Luke, I knew they were in love... I had met them two times before I met Calum, and so when Cal and I were alone together I looked at him and asked, 'are they a couple?' And he just told me, 'yes, but they don't realize it yet.' I've always known that these two would end up together, I think all of us did... and now that it's finally happened I just want to make a toast to them." Everyone stood up with their champagne glasses. "I want to toast you guys to a very long and very happy marriage. I love you guys. Cheers." Michael and Luke smiled as everyone toasted before pressing their lips together.
"Alright, now please put your hands together as the grooms meet on the dance floor for their first dance," the DJ announced. Michael stood up and held his hand out to Luke who was blushing like mad. He pulled him out to the dance floor as their favorite song began playing, All the Stars by Ed Sheeran. Together they danced underneath the soft lights coming from the lanterns as everyone watched happily, tears leaking from their mothers' eyes. The chorus began playing and Michael smiled happily at Luke.
"What?" He laughed.
"It's just. It's finally happening," he whispered, tears welling up in his eyes. "We made it..." Luke smiled and wrapped his arms around his husband as they continued to dance.
"I love you so much," he said quietly.
"I love you too..."
~~~~~
"Babe. Mikey, wake up. We're going to miss our flight." Michael sighed and rolled over, looking over at his new husband who was getting dressed. "You don't want to miss our own honeymoon, do you?"
"Anywhere with you is a good enough honeymoon for me, honey," he winked, sitting up. Luke threw a shirt at him, laughing.
"You're so cheesy," he said, sitting next to him and pulling his shoes on.
"Only for you, babe," Mike said, pulling his shirt over his head and pulling on a pair of skinny jeans.
"Do you want to finish getting all of our stuff? I'll go downstairs and check us out. Your dad is coming to drive us to the airport. He'll be here in a minute," Luke said, grabbing both of their hotel card keys.
"Sure, babe. I'll meet you downstairs in just a minute." Luke smiled and hugged his husband, pressing their lips together.
"I love you."
"I love you too." Luke turned and walked out of the room. Michael packed up the rest of their things and grabbed his bags, walking out to the elevator to meet his husband.
"Michael?" A familiar voice asked from behind him. He turned and saw Shawn.
"Hey... what are you doing here?"
"I just came to visit my friend, why are you staying in a hotel."
"I'm uh... headed off on my honeymoon," he said, awkwardly. "How's your sister?"
"She's great. She finished treatment, and they say that her cancer is gone."
"That's so great!"
"Yeah... so wow, you and Luke are married?"
"Yeah. As of last night... speaking of Luke, he's uh waiting for me downstairs. We really have to catch a flight. Maybe we can catch up later?"
"Yeah, definitely. Congrats man... I'm glad you're happy." Michael smiled and turned, stepping into the elevator and heading downstairs. It was finally time for him to leave with his husband, and get away from society. Just the two of them, away from the fame and the paparazzi, living happily.
~One Month Later~
The silence in the room was broken only by the beeps of the answering machine in their new home.
'Yeah, it's uh. It's Ash. Listen, I know you guys just got back from your honeymoon, but something's happened. It's Calum. We were in an accident. The doctors don't think he's going to make it... and.. I." He stifled a sob on the other end of the call. "I really just. I need you guys here. Please? I can't sit here alone."
Luke and Michael rushed to be with their best friend. They sat at his side the entire time Calum was in surgery in silence. He was too shaken up to talk. He had a white bandage on his forehead, a spot of blood spilling through, but he didn't even notice.
"This is my fault," he croaked out. "I-I was driving. I didn't see that damn truck. If he dies tonight, it's going to be all my fault."
"Ashton, it's not your fault," Luke said softly, putting his hand on his back. "You know it's not."
"It is though! He tried telling me not to go yet. He told me to stop. I didn't listen. I was just being a stubborn asshole. I don't deserve Calum. I never have... how did I ever get a man as perfect as him?" Ashton broke down in tears again, hiding his face in his hands.
"It's going to be alright. He's going to be alright..." Michael whispered, hugging him tightly. "He has to be."
