"I don't want to see you, though."

"I know you miss me. You don't have to hide it."

"Why did you bring me here, Kazuno-chan?"

"Come on, [First Name]-chan. You can't just be a shut-in every day."

"That's what high school's all about. And anyway, even if you bring me here, we're still inside."

"It's a change of plans for you."

"So that's what it is."

I trudged through the doors of Rakuzan's grand gym with Kazuno. She's my closest friend, but I wouldn't say that she's my best friend. I don't believe that any if my friends should be above the others. She initially came here to watch her "friend," Hayama, who was on the basketball team, practice. I say "friend" because they act like they're a couple so often that I just want to get them together right on the spot already.

They deny it every time, though.

Now, Kazuno decided to bring me along, complaining that I was a "shut-in," but it's not like I'm going to argue that point. I agreed to go along with her, which is why I'm in the situation I'm currently in.

It seems that I overlooked one detail, though. Akashi is also in Rakuzan's basketball team. Not to mention, the captain. You wouldn't be able to go a mile without hearing that name, so the fact that I was able to brain fart that was just unbelievable.

Captain of the Generation of Miracles: Akashi Seijūro. That gets thrown around in the basketball world very often now.

Then again, I wouldn't necessarily call watching a group of sweaty (but well built) guys practicing their basketball skills under a midget captain my cup of tea. Kazuno seemed to be really enjoying it, though.

Personally, I was hoping that there wouldn't be a ball that flies over here hits me in the head.

Not having anything to do after ruling out the possibility of watching these boys practice, I decided to use this time to start on my schoolwork. It was only when I took out my homework from English when I realized that I didn't pay much attention to the lecture. Silently hating myself, I started on the work, struggling quite a bit, I'll admit.

It got to the point where I was so absorbed in trying to figure out one problem that I didn't notice anything around me. And it just so happens that Kazuno chose the time to interrupt me when I was in the middle of an epiphany. "[First Name]-chan, we can leave, now. Their practice is over," she informed.

"Yeah. You go first, I'll leave after I finish this. I'm almost finished with it."

In the end, I wasn't actually almost finished with it. It took me a while, so what I said was a lie. By the time I looked up from my paper, there was no one in the gym except Akashi, who was cleaning up. "I'm going to have to discipline them next practice for not cleaning up," I caught him mumbling to himself as he passed where I was sitting.

"Are we the only ones in here?" I asked as I put my textbook back into my bag. Shoot, that was a dumb question to ask.

He didn't stop walking as he answered, "I assume that you are able to see, and find the answer to that yourself. You looked so absorbed in that problem that I decided against bothering you."

"Was that supposed to be an insult?"

"You can take it any way you'd like."

I stood up, putting my arm through the straps of my schoolbag. "Uh.... bye?" I said, the words echoing through the gym. He didn't respond to my farewell, so I turned around and exited Rakuzan's gym.

From: [Full Name]
To: Me

Did your day go well? Did you smile?

You still haven't told me who you are.

If you haven't smiled, smile for the rest of your day.

Is this magic or something?

You can take it any way you'd like.

Hm. I do wonder what's up with all of these positive messages. Magic doesn't exist, so I can rule out that possibility. I leaned back on my bed, and closed my eyes.

"You can take it any way you'd like."

You can take it any way you'd like.

Wait.
