Today has been one of the most exhausting day of my life! Fitz found me at school this morning, and had brought to Eternalia, the capital of the Lost Cities, to take a test to see if I was qualified to receive a proper elvin education. Three councillors asked me to do things that, yesterday morning I would've said were impossible.

She did say they were impossible. In fact, it took around an hour to convince her that they were very possible.

Fist, Bronte, a rather stubborn and ill-tempered councillor, asked me to read his mind. I did it with ease and everyone said it was incredibly hard to break into an elders mind. Great, now I'm even weird prodigy among elves (maybe). Then, he asked me to show him the strength of my levitating skills.  After concentrating for a while, I finally levitated the goblet in front of me, it was my first time intentionally levitating an object. I was absolutely dumbfounded! I could move thing with my mind! Though, the councillors didn't seem impressed. I levitated four more goblets. Kenric, a kind and cheerful councillor with wild red hair and a prefect smile, seemed to think I had potential. Bronte grunted and complained he was expecting bit more from a girl, who  he had heard, had  lifted a lamppost yesterday. I was determined to pass, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to live with the humans at my school. I lifted four chairs, unfortunately including the one Bronte was sitting on. He fell off with a loud thump. My face turned red and I saw Alden trying very hard not laugh. I'm sure I must have been blushing like crazy. I was doomed to fail. I had dropped one of the councillors. This was probably going to be the first test of my life I have ever failed

Bronte grumbled something, stood up and said,

"I have seen enough to make up my mind. I vote against Sophie Foster attending Foxfire."

Kenric raised from his chair and exclaimed "You're being ridiculous! I vote in favor." All eyes to Oralie a gorgeous councillor with long golden hair and sky blue eyes. She hadn't said a word the whole time and she seemed rather unsure who's side to take.

She looked straight into my eyes and said in a voice as beautiful as she looked, "Please give me your hand."

I looked at Alden, wondering why she would want my hand.

"She's an empath, Sophie. She can sense peoples emotions when given physical contact. You can trust her," he said motioning for me to take Oralie's hand.

I nervously set my hand in hers.

"I feel a lot of fear and confusion, but I've never felt such sincerity. And there is something else I can't recognize." She said in her melodious voice ."You have my vote."

Everyone in the room seemed relieved and smiled, except for Bronte, obviously. Was there anything that impressed him?

"This will be revisited at the end of this year. I'll make sure of it!", he said frustrated.

I wonder how I'm going to go to another world each day for school without my parents noticing. I'll make sure to ask Alden later. Alden led Fitz and I to the door.

"We are going to go get your mind probed," he told me.

Probed? They going to rummage through my thoughts. It sent shivers down my spine. Was it going to hurt? Alden must have noticed my reaction, and said,

"There is no need to worry." (I later realized he said this regularly),"the process is painless. And Quinlin will be doing your probe. He is a close friend of mine and I wouldn't allow him to do it if I didn't trust him completely."

Well , they obviously don't trust each other completely or they'd still be cognates. If I ever had a cognate (which I would LOVE, by the way. It sounds awesome) I would definitely never let it break.

"Where does Quinlin work?" I asked.

Fitz smirked smugly "Ever wanted see Atlantis?"

Before I could think of what to say, Alden took out his path finder and the light pulled us away. We teleported on large rock in the middle of nowhere covered in white and green seagull feces. I doubted this was Atlantis, but I couldn't help but feel little disappointed. Alden opened a chest that was hidden behind the rocks and pulled out bottle with a worn label that was barely legible. On the label was written "One Whirlpool: Open with Care." Inside the bottle was dark water spinning rapidly like mini whirlpool. It reminded me of the bottles in Pirates of the Caribbean. Alden opened the bottle and rapidly threw it in the ocean. Suddenly, a giant whirlpool formed right in front of me.

Fitz said, "Ladies first,"

"You want me to jump!" I screamed. I studied his face to see if he was joking. "Maybe I should go first" Alden kindly suggested. And he jumped. I screamed. Fitz laughed. I was getting very tired of Fitz laughing at me, despite how charming his laugh was. Where I grew up it was considered suicide to jump into a whirlpool. He motioned that it was my turn to go. I looked at the giant whirlpool in front of me. I mustered up the courage I had and jumped.

Gosh, I really sound like a jerk. A handsome and charming jerk, but still a jerk.

I landed on a giant sponge, which dried me head to toe. Alden quickly pulled me out of the way as Fitz landed behind me. We all got in carriage getting pulled by a terrifying giant scorpion which brought us to Quinlin's office. When we arrived caramel skinned man with dark brown hair greeted us, equally as good looking as everyone else I've met so far. I expected he must be Quinlin. So far I couldn't help but feeling like a monkey compared to the level who all looked like models. I took a seat in a metal chair. He put two fingers on my temples. He stayed that way for the longest three minutes of my life. I was getting more stressed by the second.

What was so interesting about my bland life to an elf who lived in Atlantis? Finally he pulled away.

"Fascinating" he murmured and said that he couldn't probe my mind. I would've felt relieved if it weren't for Alden's and Quinlin's troubled expressions. They both looked at each other for a long time. I sat in the awkward silence. Fitz leaned over to me, and whispered that they were having a telepathic conversation.

Later, he and Alden said goodbye. And we leaped back to Everglen, the enormous castle that Fitz called home. Now I'm sitting in a very comfortable armchair, waiting for Alden to call me into his office so we can have an 'important talk'. I wonder what I am going to say to my parents once I get back home. They'll definitely be extremely angry I disappeared again. I'll probably be grounded for at least a month, scratch that, a year. Though I do really miss them, today was a long day. I can't wait to see them when I get home, well, after the grounding. I hope we'll have pasta or sushi... never mind, I'm getting off topic.
