Michael searched the cupboard and saw a small blue box on it carved KEVIN.
Michael: Kevin? Who's Kevin?
***
Davina flinched .Michael showed it to her and she snatched it from him. Davina examined it, wept quietly and turned. Michael ignored it and returned to his search.
Davina: I'm sorry, I get emotional sometimes.
Michael: It's okay I understand you.
Davina wiped her tears and sighed. At that moment, Brian appeared and laid his hands on her which seemed to calm her down even more.
Michael turned to face Davina and almost jumped at the sight of Brian.
Michael: don't freak out. It's just me.
Michael looked at Davina who was unaware of Brian's presence.
Michael: what's that thing she's holding?
Davina looked at him.
Davina: Oh I guess it was something he wanted to give to our son (gazing at the small box)
Brian: take it with you. It will be very useful.
Michael: Can I have it?
Davina handed it over to him.
Michael: I'll return it to you later...
Davina nodded and rushed out of the room.
Michael: Now I understand your pain.
Brian nodded understandingly.
Michael: But what about my son?
Brian: 5% improvement.
Michael: But that's not fair.
Brian: You didn't do much today and by the way it's 5% a day for 20 days, if you know any math. And I'm outta here.
He vanished and left Michael staring at the open air. He gathered other documents and left. On the way out, he met Davina. She offered coffee and he accepted it and drank it silently eager to get to the hospital.
At the hospital.
Emily was sitting beside Jordan asleep.
Michael: Hey (softly touching her shoulder)
Emily squinted at him and smiled weakly.
Emily: You're here?
Michael: How is he?
Emily: 5% recovery.
Michael shook his head.
Michael: Damn you Brian (thinking)
Emily sighed.
Emily: You know I've been thinking... (Hesitatingly)
Michael: What? (Attentively)
Emily: Everything happened so fast and everything seems strange. Like some spirits are... It's just so strange.
Michael hugged her and smoothed her hair.
Michael: I promise you that everything is going to be alright. I'll make sure it happens. Just trust me. (Mumbling softly in her ears)
