They hurt me again.
The hairless beasts' attacks were more brutal today than usual. I have more spears in my flesh now than ever before and I can't reach over to get them out since I'm stuck to the stone floor. My nose started bleeding today, which was odd since it was normally my mouth that bled from the weird thing on my snout rubbing my skin off. I noticed something else today: my feather-fluff is starting to disappear in some places. When I got here I was nearly all feather-fluff but now I actually have dark feathers. Mother said I looked like my father before he went out to go hunting for us and never came back; I was too young to remember what he looked like.
Shifting my weight off of one of my back legs, I slowly stood up for the first time in moons. The pain is excruciatingly painful every time I move my shoulders and haunches. I've been sitting on the ground like a bird on a branch for so long my muscles have gone stiff.
Maybe stretching them out a little will work.
It worked a little, I couldn't move much from the chains but I was able to stretch my legs out in front of me.
CLANG! THUD
My mouth watered, drool leaking from the sides of my snout. But to my disappointment, there lay a single stag. It's horns weren't even in yet and it was quite thin. It reeked of sickness but food is food. The guards dropped it at such a high height that it wasn't even intact anymore so I could lick up some of the remaining mush to try and settle my raging appetite. There was almost nothing left when I grew frustrated and stopped trying to lap the carcass up from the dirty floor. My attention was drawn towards the gap where the guards tossed me the rotting stag. Walking over as far as I could to it, I realized there were several halls of some sort, going in every direction
The walls are thick enough to keep certain beasts in.. Is it thick enough to keep ME in here?
I placed a paw on one of the walls.. they were pretty thick but something struck hope in me.
The door!
I limped quickly to the small door that the guards would enter and exit through after they were satisfied with my pain. I pressed my paw on the walls around it again. Some of the stones shifted under the small weight I was putting on them. So did the stones a few ways above the tiny door.
I've got an idea.
Next time those guards come in here to replace my chains, I will do it.
I will run through the walls.
I will not stop for anything in my way.
I'm going to escape, even if it means losing my life o will be free one day...
Greetings! I feel like this chapter was a tad shorter than I wanted it to be but I hope you all are enjoying the book so far!
Happy flying!
