I did it. I finally did it! I escaped! I'm sitting on a tree branch in Washington. Our house was in Michigan. I'm almost to California! My black wings are tired and hot. I tuck them in and breathe in the fresh air. "Ah, this is good." I say to the world. I'm so happy, I can't wipe the smile off my face. I finally fall asleep looking at the night sky stars.

Beep, beep, beep!
I groan, and turn off my phone alarm. 7:00!
Ugh! I'm WAY behind schedule! I should have been leaving Washington by now! God! I'm an idiot! Shit!

I unfurl my 14 foot purple/black wings. I jump off the tree and fall for about 5
seconds, then I soar, higher and higher. Damn, there's nothing better than flying.

I'm in California! It's so green here! I love it! I land in an abandoned park and tuck in my wings and open my bag.
Food, water, blankets, small pillow, keys to the house. Ok. I take out some energy bars and a bottle of water. I lay out a blanket and have picnic.

It's sundown and I figure I should get some rest. So I fly up into tree branches that form a V and make a make-shift bed. I'm just closing my eyes when I hear a noise.
SNAP!

A twig. I sit up and scan my surroundings. Trees, pond, ground, nothing strange. I get out of my 'bed' and slowly pack everything up. Another 360 degree scan and I jump down, landing lightly on my feet. I tip-toe out of the park thinking the sound was just an animal. Boy was I wrong.
