-what was that Chris ? - she weirdly asked

-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to but your - he tried to explain when someone knocked the door. - come in!

-Hello Chris ! - his little sister Katie said while running up to him

- aww Katie ! How you doing? - he warmly greeted her

- the camp last week was crap!

-I'm sorry for that - Chris said while rubbing her hand

- so... Who's she? - Katie said while staring at Mary. - is she your girlfriend?

-No! definitely no! She's just a co-worker

- Ah... nice to meet you! My name is Katie

-Thank you! I'm Mary Elizabeth by the way! and it's a pleasure finally meeting you!

-finally? - Katie awkwardly asked

- Yeah! your brothers are always talking wonderful thing about you

-You shouldn't listen to them! they are all f*cking liars! - she said while running through the corridor

-Katie !!! Watch your mouth lady! - he shouted from his door - I'm sorry for that too

- Chris, never mind! she's just... growing up

-No. She's not just growing up. She's spending to much time with this new kids in town.

-Do I see an overprotective sibling here? - she said while making her face look like a detective

-No! I just... don't like them

In that moment, Mrs Stevens called out for dinner. They both made their way to the dinner table but their thoughts were all messed up.

She was an emotional mess because the fact that he presented her as a co-worker and not as his friend. Yeah, women get sad or pissed about this tiny little things.

Instead, Chris was thinking about the kiss. How would he ever explain it?

"Hey I just wanted to kiss you from a really long time and you say 'make me' and well... that like gave me the chance to kiss you"

No. He was screwed up, that in his way to the table, he actually thought about leaving the Rickshaw Run team.

But he would not. He would not let her down.

-Go. I still have to look for some things on the kitchen. Take a sit on the table – Chris said to her near her ear.

What the hell was he doing? Seducing her? Sending chills down her spin?

-Yeah, sure! Where's a co-worker supposed to sit? On the table with the family or in a table alone?

-Excuse me? – Chris said with a grin on his face

-Nothing – She said while moving forward to take a sit. He pulled her arm and got her close to his body – What are you doing Chris ?

-You're not my co-worker, you're my friend and you know it.

-Prove it.

-How am I supposed to prove you that I am your friend? – He hoarsely said

-Let me sit down Chris – She said while punching his stomach – Hey do you have a stone in there or what? – She said after kissing her knucklebones.

-Sit on the table please

-Ok, I will sit next to Stefan .

-Fine, but sit ok?

She sat down and Stefan stared at her. He knew something happened. They didn't even listen to him shouting to come down for dinner, so he sent Katie .

-Is everything ok, Marybeth? – He asked

-Yeah, sure

-Sure.

Chris arrived with some soft drinks and put them on the table. Then he sat next to Mary, waiting for his mother to come. Susancame with a huge pot full of spaghetti; she served the dishes sat down in front of her husband. She had a little chat with everyone but especially with Katie about her notes in school. After the dessert, Mary finally mumbled some words.

-Mrs Stevens the dinner was fantastic, thank you. –She said.

-You are welcome Mary, it was a pleasure having you!

-Thank you, and I think I should leave... it is getting late and Charly, my flatmate, is not home so.... – Mary added while getting up from the chair.

-Chris! – Mr. Stevens said- Would you take her home please?

-Ehm, sure. - He answered while nervously standing up.

Mary put on her Stefan et and so did Chris . He took the car keys not before kissing her sister forehead wishing her a goodnight.
