The hole in my side had its own heartbeat as red liquid pulsed out of it. Ow. Why did they have to shoot me? Ow. Now the pain was pulsing everywhere inside me. I rested my head on the window that was humming against the pounding wind. Though it seemed more like I was more careening toward the window than softly leaning against it. "Woah there, Mae, are you feeling light-headed? Your eyes are spinning," Cae questioned.
"A little, ow!" another wave of pain washed over me.
"Cae, hurry up the ocean is right over there," V pointed over at the waves in the distance that I was watching. The car sped up and we were almost there.
"Is... Ignus... okay?" I needed to know.
"Yeah, but you won't be if we don't get you in the water. Here it is already," Cae said.
"I can just jump out from here, it'll take too long to lower the car down. Cae you can slow my fall if you want to," I opened the car door, "see you in a little bit." I would say that I jumped out of the car, but it was more of a purposeful fall out of there. I spread my arms out and closed my eyes in the free fall. I was almost home safe.
I transferred from the speeding air to the flowing current of the ocean as I touched the surface. I could already feel the pain weakening, almost instantly disappearing. Stretching my fingers out, the ocean welcomed me once again. Sand spun around my arms, fish weaved through my hands, and seaweed pulled against my feet. I wanted to stay forever, but I had to get back up. Ignus might wake up before we get to V's base. I was about to begin swimming back, but then something caught my eye.

I swam back up to the surface and willed the water to force me up toward the car. I was halfway there when Cae waved to me that he would take over and pushed the air up from under me, and I landed in the car.
"You okay?" Cae asked incessantly again.
"Yes, I'm okay now. We can finally relax."
