I watched Ignus fall to the ground, it was always hard to see her like that. So much she couldn't know to think about, but we had to be quick. "Let's go, the police are almost here!" I pulled the needle back out of her neck and gripped Ignus's arm and started out the doorway, yet it was too late. Vitae and I walked into a hall of pointed guns and police badges. "That distraction didn't work! Why didn't we think of another plan?" she bickered in my ear. "Well, sorry, ice benders are going to be attacking this school in no time to get Ignus, I was in a bit of a rush."
"Put the girl down, now!" one officer yelled.
"I'm sorry, I'm just trying to help, I really am," I'd kept having to reassure myself that for the last hour. I took a small step back, towards the door behind me. We had to get out of here, we needed a plan. Suddenly, a thick wall of vines stretched up from the floor, that was not good. "Vitae! What are you doing?"
"Getting us out, go! Make sure you pull me out once you get there, Caelum!" V stood next to me, hands outstretched, and full Elemental clothing on.
"Fine, but you and I are having a talk later!" I turned and ran down the hallway. Stretching my hand out as I reached the door, I caused a surge of wind that flew V toward me. "You owe me!" she said.
"I'm the one that owes you? You just showed your power off in front of a million people in there!" we jogged toward our van, "I had a plan!"
"Plan? What plan? You were about to sit there and fanboy over machinery and stuff! Besides, I think we've all noticed that your plans tend to not be that great, blowing up a school? For a distraction?"
"It was supposed to work, nobody got hurt! And again with the machinery jokes? It's just a hobby!"
"Will you two whiners stop crying and get into the car?" Mae's voice called from our getaway.
"Fine let's go!" I hopped on board, setting Ignus down next to me, but then a gunshot rang in my ears.
"Gah!" Mae shouted from the front seat, slumping over.
"Mae!" V called from next to me.
"Are you okay?" I threw myself forward to check on her, blood started soaking through her shirt.
"Cae, sorry, we have to go now," Mare said, still alive, "I'll be okay, drive." She winked and slid into the passenger seat. I jumped into the front seat next to her and started driving. "Are you okay? Where were you hit?" I started to panic.
"I'm okay, really. How's Ignus? Asleep?" Of course, she was worried about someone other than herself. Another bullet pinged against the side of the car, bouncing off.
"She's okay, but she was really rattled up after Cae's amazing plan, which is still paying off wonderfully well. Get this thing into flying mode! Hurry up, we need to get Mae to my jungle. She needs the potions," V said behind me. I pressed the special button and we floated into the air, where it was always safe. "Seriously, Mare, you are not fine you've been shot!" I almost shouted at her.
"No, I'm fine, I just need water. Head to the ocean instead. Sorry, V, I know you like your potions."
"It's alright, but whatever we are going to do, let's do it fast!".
