Linda came out and sat on the couch so Malcolm sat next to her. "You may as well let him go Brian, the pizza's getting cold and we're all hungry. Besides you can just take him down if he makes a jailbreak," Cliff said. Brian laughed and let him go. Angus kept his eyes on me as I sat on the couch by the armrest.
"He'll make it out all right, " said Brian. "With a bullet in his back!"
"Jaaiillbreak!" we all shouted. Though Phil had food in his mouth when he said it so we all laughed when he finished. I thought Angus would sit on the loveseat in the corner but he ended up sitting right next to me. Suspiciously close in fact. Malcolm noticed and looked over Linda's shoulder at us. I looked back at him and he only shrugged at me.
Ellen came out of her shower some minutes later pretending to be upset. "I heard you guys out here having fun without me!" she laughed.
"We had to let Angus go Ellen. We got hungry and the pizza was getting cold," I told her.
"Pity. Maybe next time." She sat on the other side of Angus and held his hand. Of course he held hers back, but it seemed like he was up to something. He'd absolutely sit next to his wife, but some part of him missed someone else. I prayed to God it wasn't who I thought it was.
"Ladies' men over there," Phil said to Brian.
"Get your arse over here an' join 'em," Malcolm said. Phil made a face at him and I laughed a bit too much causing me to snort. I covered my face hoping they wouldn't hear.
"Aw, that's adorable!" Linda gushed. I smiled shyly at everyone.
"Never heard that laugh before," Angus said.
"Guess it comes out on special occasions," I said embarrassed. He studied me a minute then smiled.
"Interesting."
"Alright mates, let's get this film started before we all fall asleep on it," Brian said sitting on the couch with Phil. "Phil, go put it on."
"Why can't you do it?"
"I just sat down." Phil sighed and wiped his hands with a napkin before sticking the tape in the VCR.
"Are there any VCRs in the future Hannah?" Phil asked.
"Some people have them, but not as much as they used to."
"Which movie is this?" Linda asked.
"The Exorcist," Phil said smiling to himself.
"It's not that scary movie from the seventies is it?"
"Come on Linda, it can't be that bad. Ask Hannah, she's probably seen it." Everyone turned to look at me.
"It depends who's watching. Personally it wasn't too bad," I shrugged.
"Do you need me to hold your hand Linda?" Malcolm asked.
"Of course not, I'll be fine."
"Do you need me to hold your hand Malcolm?" Brian laughed.
"Sure," he laughed in return.
"Alright everyone, movie's started," Phil said. Cliff got up from his spot at the table and ran to join us. Phil turned the lights out and let the film play.
"What sort of film is this?" asked Linda burying her head in her husband's neck. He held her close to him.
"I'm no doctor," Phil said. "but I don't think her head's supposed to twist like that."
"Great choice Phil, you're scarin' the ladies!" Brian told him.
"What? Mal's fine!" Phil smiled.
