I feel a tight manly grip holding my hands. I hear a few voices around me. I smell antiseptic products as if I'm in a hospital. I slowly opened my eyes to see a blur. I just made out that there were two human figures, and one was actually holding my hand, before there was utter silence.
"Marmae honey," a recognisable modulated voice called my name.
"Where am I?" I said gruffly, taking my hand out of this person's hand. My vision was still a blur and I was confused.
"You're in a private hospital," he answered.
It hit me like a flash. I rubbed my eyes thoroughly open, then sat up rather quickly to wrap my arms around Max's neck. I held him tight, and he chuckled rubbing my back gently. I felt a little lightheaded, but it was manageable.
"You shouldn't get up so quickly, you can get lightheaded," he spoke, but because his voice was so deep I was able to feel the vibration of the sound particles.
"I am, but I'm ok," I pulled away cupped his face, checking all over. I looked into his golden whiskey eyes, wanting to make sure if he was ok.
"What happened to you?" I asked worriedly."Aren't I supposed to ask you that?" He grinned. Before I could speak, I noticed Marta and Mama in the room.
"Hello Marta!"I smiled at the grinning woman. She walked up to me and hugged me.
"I'm so glad you're ok hun," Marta said before pecking my cheek.
"Course I'm ok, why wouldn't I be?" I chuckled, but the room turned awkwardly silent.
"You were abused Marmae," she stayed sternlyjp. I looked at Max to see him focussing in his own world, with an angry expression on his face.
"Yeah, but I'm fine. Joseph isn't the reason why I'm here though," I shrugged.
"Don't defend him-"
"But he was apart of the reason why you are here. The Asian neighbour of yours and the paramedics stayed that you were overwhelmed, which caused you to have several black outs before you fainted entirely," objected Marta.
"Max.. I saw you get arrested, how..-"
"I knew the head of the police department and I requested to speak to him. I told him the situation, and because he's a family friend he released me. Moreover, I have a small trial to debate on whether I deliberately meant to slaughter Joseph or not," Max intervened. I gasped, shocked and a little scared.
"Did you... kill him?" My palms began to sweat.
"I wish I had, but no, he's just crucially hurt. If I had one more minute with this brute I guarantee I would've ended his deadbeat life," frustratedly stated Max. He seemed more frustrated at the fact that he didn't end up ending Joseph's life.
"Yeah but luckily you hadn't, it wouldn't be worth it. I can not have the love of my life locked up for man slaughter, can I?" I frowned and pouted.
"Yeah, because it'll be worth it.. for you Marmae. That bastard hit you Marmae for crying out loud," Max sighed with annoyance.
"You two are cringy, imma go to Starbucks. Anyone want anything?" Intervened Marta.
"C-"
"A caramel frappè and a bottle of water," Max finished of my order.
"Max I know you beat up Joeseph for my sakes, but it wasn't worth it. He just busted my lip, though it still hurts like hell. Besides, you have children now, what if you was done for life or for twenty years... what would you say to them?" My voice began to tremble a little, but he tittered. "Why is this funny to you?" My eyes began to water. "Max, if you got done for murder I wouldn't be able to live without you," a tear fell. His face broke from amusement, and looked sympathetic. I then broke down crying, saddened at the thought of loosing him.
