"Duuuuustiiin... Dustin... DUSTIN!"

"What, Mike?!"

"Would you stop daydreaming about Y/N and tell us if you're free on Saturday?" Lucas asked with an annoyed tone.

"I am NOT daydreaming about Y/N... I was just trying to remember if I was doing anything Saturday or not."

"Oh right because deep thought makes you get a huge grin on your face," Will stated sarcastically.

"Uh yeah.. that's exactly what happens," Dustin said trying his best to play it off like that was true. His friends just rolled their eyes. "What?" he asked a bit irritated with his friends.

"It's obvious you were thinking about your girlfriend," Lucas teased with a smirk.

"She isn't my girlfriend... we're just friends." Dustin didn't particularly like saying that if he was being honest with himself.

"You like Y/N right?" Mike asked.

"Y-yeah..." Dustin answered blushing a little.

"And Y/N likes you?" Will added.

"I.. I don't know about that," Dustin choked out.

"Well she does," Lucas said matter-of-factly which made Dustin blush even more and raise his eyebrows.

"And you guys hang out together.. alone.. right?" Mike pressed.

"Sometimes," Dustin mumbled while looking down from embarrassment. He looked back up and saw his best friends smirking at him. "What?"

"Have you kissed her yet?" Lucas questioned.

"N-no!" The three inquiring boys all groaned at once at Dustin's answer. "What?! I probably won't have the guts to do that for years!"

Suddenly the bell rung, signaling the end of lunch... and Dustin's misery. The boys stood up from their table and began walking to their lockers. Just then, Y/N had walked into Dustin's sight and the two made eye contact. Dustin smiled at Y/N and she smiled at him while proceeding to blush a little, which caused Dustin's cheeks to heat up as well. Mike, Will, and Lucas saw the nonverbal interaction and shook their heads.

A couple days had passed and it was Saturday night at the Wheeler's house, more specifically the basement, where another epic Dungeons and Dragons campaign was being played. Everyone was in complete focus... well almost everyone. Dustin kept glancing at his watch, waiting for it to read 9:55, and it was just about there. He started feeling really nervous and excited. A few minutes later it was time.

"Well guys I should get going," Dustin spoke while standing up and putting his jacket on and backpack on his shoulders. His friends were shocked and confused.

"It's only around 10:00," Mike stated.

"Why are you leaving now?" Lucas asked.

"I just don't want my mom to get mad at me for being out so late," Dustin said without pausing or stuttering and he was proud of himself for it. Whenever he would lie to his best friends they always seemed to catch on and he thought maybe it was because he paused and stuttered.

"Doesn't your mom let you stay out late on the weekends?" Will questioned.

"Well I.. kinda made her mad this morning so I... don't wanna chance anything." Damn it, I paused twice! But he was starting to run out of time so perfecting a lie wasn't at the top of his worry list right now.
