As Y/N looks in the mirror while getting ready for school, there isn't the most pleased look on her face. She didn't like how she looked, for good reason, she thought. She hated her skin and how it looked, she just wished she wasn't like that at all. She wore over-sized sweaters all the time just to cover up her condition and to make sure nobody saw it because she knew if anyone, anyone at all, saw her skin they would make fun of her for it, tease her, call her names and could even be disgusted. She knew she wouldn't be able to take that; as tough as she acted that was her one weakness that she wouldn't let anyone see.

Y/N was scared though, it was starting to spread more. It was only on her arms, legs, and stomach but it was starting to slowly spread north, which means it could reach her face, and she was terrified of that. She couldn't hide her face, that was the one thing she couldn't hide. Maybe I could just do homeschooling, she thought but sighed in defeat, figuring she shouldn't be too worried about it at the moment since she had to get to school on time.

Y/N enjoyed going to school for a while but just this past summer she had to move and she was scared out of her mind. Her old school was fairly small so almost everyone knew about her condition and they were fine with it because they knew Y/N as a person. But now that she had to go to a new school with new people they could immediately judge her and even think she was a freak. Not to mention the fact that she was going into seventh grade and that's when people in your class would start to be serious jerks. She was tremendously worried about it the whole summer but one day she thought of a solution: if she just wore slightly over-sized sweaters everyday then she could hide her skin, she would just have to make sure the sleeves covered her hands.

So that's what Y/N decided to do. School started and the only thing people paid attention to was the fact that she was new and how she would wear sweaters in seventy, sometimes eighty, degree weather, that caused a few weird looks but people just shrugged it off.

Y/N didn't live too far away from the school so she rode her bike there; less chance of people seeing her skin than if she rode the bus, plus the bus was stinky and filled with rowdy annoying kids. She started to feel excited, like actually excited and not scared. She had friends that she was looking forward to seeing. It was only a few weeks into school and she already became good friends with four boys. The thought of making friends so soon made her happy.

On the first day of school during lunch Y/N had to find a seat but pretty much every table was full, but there was one table that had quite a few seats open since there were only four boys who sat there. So she went over to that table and asked if she could sit there and the boys nodded, said yes or said sure. So Y/N sat at the very end and started unpacking the food from her fully packed lunch, being careful so her sleeve wouldn't get pulled back too much.

The boys raised their eyebrows at her, wondering why she was sitting at the very end of the table. Maybe it was because they were the "freak show." But it was the first day of school, how could she possibly know about that already? The boys were puzzled but three of them just shook it off. The one boy with curly hair and a hat on was still a little bothered by the fact that she was sitting so far away from him and he couldn't fully see her beautiful face.. Woah, that escalated quickly, he thought when he turned his head and looked down at his food with a surprised look on his face.

Lucas looked at his friend and noticed the slight blush on his cheeks and smirked. "Hey, you know you can sit by us if you want. You don't have to sit all the way over there."

Y/N was just about to take a bite of her sandwich but she paused when he spoke to her. She was shocked but in a good way. "O-okay." She slid her stuff over next to the boy who gave her the invitation. "Thank you," she said quietly.
