I fell asleep on a good note last night, and was alarmed when I got up, almost missing a phone call from my mom. We were supposed to be at Wrigley by 10. I whipped my head around a looked at the clock.  9:34.

My jaw dropped as I still had to do everything including driving there so I could introduce my parents to Kris more formally.

In tired to park my car near the back entrance, failing and having to walk four minutes to the door. I met my parents as soon as I walked in. "Hello sweetie, how are ya?" My dad said turning so we could start walking to the dugout.

"I'm doing great. Kris has told the guys were coming, so you get to meet the team too." They both smiled, we talked about some other things, aka my brothers football career, before we had reached the door.

"ALL CLEAR?" I yelled, hearing shuffling of feet, then Kris opened the door to reveal all the guys and Maddon. I walked in giving Kris a side hug. My parents walked up next to me. Kris shook hands with my parents, then motioned at all the guys and said their names.

I zoned out after he mentioned Zobrist. He looked at me and smiled, almost giddy, "And you must be Miss. Taylor Tanner." I laughed, and he looked away shooing off the guys to go finish getting ready.

My parents and Kris really hit it off. Of course my dad, or to Kris, "Mr. Tanner," talked about baseball for the longest time, before me and my mom finally entered the conversation by talked about his family. Turns out he has a very big family. Three sisters, one brother, a mom and a dad. I only had two brothers.

Where were my two brothers?

"So, I better be getting out to the field but I will meet up with you guys after the game." He kissed me on the forehead then walked out. I smiled widely, and both my parents glared at me. "What?" I gave them a look, trying to be defensive. "Hey Anthony!" My dad said as Anthony ran back in to say hello. Anthony came over all the time as a kid, he practically lived with us.

"Hey Mr. T, I got you guys special tickets right next to the 3rd baseline." He winked at me. My mom and him talked for a few minutes while my dad and I had little conversation about what it was like living in Chicago. "I should take you to the Sears tower." I said leaning on a locker. My dad was deathly afraid of heights.

"Um you'll have to talk your mom into that." He shied away. I shrugged and started walking to our seats. It felt like forever to get there. My mom just had to stop for popcorn, because apparently she couldn't go a game without it. That's my mom for you.

After the game we tried to make our way back down to the dugout, but got bombarded and missed our opportunity. I texted Kris, reluctantly telling him we weren't able to make it down.

T- Hey nice win out there.

K- Thanks, are you on your way down?

T- About that... My mom got sick and I had to take her home.

I lied. Not even weeks into this relationship and I was lying to him.

K- ok well maybe I can come see you tomorrow.

T- sounds good love you

K- love you too

I sighed, my parents tried talking to me but I just zoned them out, thinking about how I was going to tell Kris that I lied. No one else knew I lied but I wanted to keep it that way.

We got in the car and drove in silence, I was tired, I don't know how I would up doing that but it just drained me. I had no energy left to talk.
