Dear diary, We FINALLY got to the dock where the boat was supposed to meet us. Most people are lying down or sitting on the ground, groaning and rubbing their feet. I was leaning on Mami's shoulder and she was stroking my straight brown hair. I was staring out at the ocean, watching the slight ripples of the waves. I wished the boat would just appear now. As if I had summoned it with magic, the waves started to get slightly bigger and the stirring of the engine met everyone's ears. I bolted up and so did everyone else. I almost jumped up in the air and cheered but the only thing that stopped me was that the boat did not seem to have enough room for all of us. وداعا, Yana

Dear diary, The fact that the boat did not have enough room for all of us seemed to come to every body. A woman announced that she was staying behind with her children because she thought it would be too dangerous for them. Then a pair of brothers agreed with her and so did another family with four children. Then lastly, Mami knelt down to me and put her hands on my shoulder steadily and said "Yana my darling, there is still not enough room in the boat for everyone. It seems that if I leave too then there will be enough room." I realized where she was going and cried "Mami no! I am not leaving without you!" Mami said "Yana! You are going to go to Germany without me!" Tears pouring down my cheeks, I thought, Papi would want you to accept Mami's words. And I made my decision. "Mami? I....I....I will." I slowly said. The words were shaking because my body was shaking terribly. "Then go Yana." She kissed my forehead and I climbed onto the boat, the boat having just the right amount of space for the rest of us. Then the  boat was sailing away. وداعا, Yana
