My eyes drifted slowly open, roaming across the room before me. I was in the nurses' office, but it was dark and cold. My head pounded, instinctively I reached a hand up to pinch my temples. Carefully sitting upright on the cheap plastic bed, I took in the office once again.

"Hello?" I called, the only answer I received was silence. Who had brought me here? Why was I here?

"Spencer, how are you?" I jumped slightly at the sudden noise, but was relieved when I saw the source of it.

Jason, in all his handsome glory, stepped through the door of the office. He again was wearing a long sleeved shirt with jeans, but his hair looked messy. Almost as if he ran a hand through it multiple times, but it looked quite sexy.

I couldn't help but notice the sudden up-tempo in my heartbeats as his tall figure drew nearer. The way my breathing became shaky at the sound of his voice saying my name. What is happening to me?

Focus Spencer!

"I'm fine, thank you. What happened?" I asked Jason as he came to sit down on the wooden chair beside me.

"I was hoping you could tell me." Jason said slowly, looking into my eyes. I saw a brief flash of red in them but it disappeared before I could even think too much about it.

"I don't remember much," I scrunched my face in thought but couldn't remember what happened today, "What exactly happened?"

"You blacked out, and I did not know where to take you so I brought you to a bed." Jason turned away, staring into space for a moment. He looked as though he were having a silent argument with himself the way his face changed expressions rapidly. I felt as though he was keeping information from me, but didn't delve into it further.

"What time is it?" I asked more to myself than him, fumbling for my phone.

"Five o'clock." He answered quickly, looking at my wide eyes.

"Shoot! My mom was supposed to pick me up a half hour ago!" I grew frantic as I repeatedly typed in my phone lock code, only to open it and find a single message.

Spencer I can't pick you up today, going to see your brother, please find a ride.

Mom

I let out a sigh of relief that she didn't call the cops for me not answering, but started panicking when I didn't have a ride.

"What is wrong?" Jason asked, searching my face for a clue.

"My mom can't pick me up today, so I don't have a ride home." I said, still staring at my phone.

"Come on." Was all he said as he pulled me upright and we started walking. I tried to ignore the tingly feeling that shot through my hand when he touched it.

"Where are we going?"

"I'll walk you home."

"You don't need to, I'll walk myself." I said toughly, but all he did was glance at me from the corner of his eye and shake his head. "I'm serious!"

Then he did something that caught me off guard; he smiled. A real smile that reached his eyes, that made him look even more handsome. The sight made me smile as well, a goofy one that caused me to shut up and let him walk me home.

"Don't you need a jacket?" I asked as we stepped out the door into the bitter cold.

"No I'm fine. Where do you live?" He brushed off my question as I told him, and we walked in silence.

I couldn't help sneaking glances at him. His height baffled me every time I gazed up at him, Jason had to be at least 6"7'.

Every now and the he would work his way closer to me when a loud noise happened, whether it was people shouting in the distance or a police siren. Almost as if he was ready to protect me in a moments notice, as cheesy as that may be, I felt more safe around him than in my own house.
