Chapter Seven-Not exactly a doctor's appointment

Dr. Annalise Reynolds walked down the narrow white-walled hall in her lab coat, clipboard tucked against her hip. Her midnight black hair was in a tight business-like bun, her brown eyes giving no trace of emotion towards her work.

"How are you today, Jason?" She asked asked mechanically while leading the way into the laboratory.

"I'm good, I guess." He replied, shuffling along behind her.

His speech is changing, She thought to herself. Dr. Reynolds wrote the note on her clipboard for Dr. Satorski later.

"Lay down here, please." Dr. Reynolds told Jason with a smile, as he settled on the metal examination table. "I'm just going to-" she started, but Jason cut her off.

"I think I got it by now." He grunted, shutting his green eyes to the world.

She formed her lips in a tight line, but didn't comment. Making her way over to the touch screen computer, she accessed Jason's controls and shut him down.

"How is he?" Dr. Satorski entered the room moments later, gazing down at Jason's still-form.

"His speech has changed, and he's showing more emotions. The useless ones, like empathy, remorse, pity...love. Even his protective instincts have increased dramatically from the last examination. I don't understand, Peter, I thought this couldn't happen?" Annalise asked, still typing on her computer.

"He's a goddamn scrap of metal, that shouldn't be happening" He growled, more to himself while furrowing his brow. "I shouldn't have left any part of him human, there must be a glitch in my work because of that. Read it off to me quickly."

"The program is still doing what it's supposed to, but he's changing. A lot. All these emotions and hormones, along with the normal human functions are clouding the program. It's almost as if he forgets what he supposed to be doing because of that. As you can see already, it's taking a much longer time to find the target. Maybe it's from being around too many people? You assigned him intelligence and anger as his two emotions, and speaking as well as waving as his two interactions. But Peter, he has so much more information now. He even knows what he is, his purpose." Dr. Reynolds turned back to the middle aged man, confusion evident in her voice.

"It's almost as if he's...evolving." Dr. Satorski whispered to himself, confused just as much as Annalise.

Of course having kept Jason part human should have been a factor in his calculations. Humans are careless, selfish, and overall ill-tempered.

The fact that Jason has been around them for some time now is going to impact him. He will learn all over again as if he was a newborn child. Dr. Satorski gazed down at Jason with confusion written on his face, but inside he was slightly proud that his first try at the program has made it this far.

"Come. Let him go for now while we try to correct our mistakes."

Sorry for the short chapter, but I hope it sheds a little light on what's happening to Jason. I won't wait as long to update again because it wasn't very long. Keep reading wattpadians!
