"Johnny? What are we going to do now? We've watched every single movie in this house?" I said to him. In this memory I'm seven years old. Johnny was a senior at my school, which I'm in second grade. Johnny and his best friend, Matt, were babysitting me while my grandma was..out.
"Well, Chase. We could do what ever you want." he said and smiled at me. I heard the door open and we ran to greet Matt, who got us food. I climbed on Johnny's back and he ran around with Matt chasing us. They were my family, they didn't care what the world thought of us, we were happy.
Notice I said 'we were'.
"Johnny? What time is it?" Johnny glanced at the clock and said,
"9:30pm." he laughed and said to Matt, "Georgia is gonna have our butts if this little one isn't in bed by the time she gets home." Matt laughed and whispered,
"We'll tell her she had a sugar rush." and he pulled out a rock candy. I squealed and said thank you to him a million times. Then as I sucked on my green sugary rock candy, Matt pulled out two more, a purple and pink one for him and Johnny. We sucked on them together, then Johnny stole mine and ran off into the kitchen laughing.
"Johnny!" I laughed and ran after him, Matt followed me and we all were in the kitchen laughing. Johnny ran around the island and pretended to put the candy in his mouth. Matt put my on his shoulders and ran after him. Eventually we caught him and we all laid down on the floor in front of the big window in the living room. We sat there and finished our candy and laughed. Then I heard pop music, really load pop music.
"Johnny? Do you hear that?" I asked him and he listened and look at Matt with a horrified face. The music was getting closer and I knew exactly what it was. It was a drive by.
"No!" I woke up screaming, then I shut my mouth as quickly as I could. What time is it?
2:27am.
Too early to do something. School starts today and I wad forced to sleep on the couch because Wes and David weren't done with repairing my room. They were close but not close enough, so I slept on the sofa. I asked David if they could put a bench seat next to the window, he asked why and I saw Wes smile. I told him I like to read there. Even though that was a complete lie. It was only because I would be talking to Wes through the window and I wanted some place comfortable to sit. It was stable enough to wear I could walk around up there, so I did. I walked towards the window and threw a rock inside to see if I could get Wes' attention. I threw another one bigger and harder through the window.
"Ouch!" I heard someone say, I couldn't help but laugh and Wes appeared in the window. I couldn't help but stare, he was shirtless. I was amazed, he let his wings flow down without a care that someone would see him. He looked amazing.
"Earth to Chase?" he said waving his hand snapping me back to reality. "You better have a good explanation on waking me up and 2:30 in the morning on a school night."
"Wes, you hate school. Don't complain." I said and laughed as he threw a rock at me. He looked at me funny and then asked me a question.
"Why don't you let your wings flow out?" he said as the moon caught his wings and they shimmered.
"No one but you know about my wings. Not even my grandmother."
"What about your mother?" he asked simply, leaning down on the window seal.
"She's not my mother." I snapped. He looked at me and was taken back.
"I'm sorry. She's not my mother. She's my foster mother. My mother committed suicide when I was six." I said shyly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry." he said apologetically.
"I haven't flown in a long time, I've always been scared if I got caught." I said sitting down on a chair.
"Well, tomorrow you're flying with me to school then." he looked really hot in the moon light.
"Why? Don't you take the bus?" I asked him.
"Yea once in a while." he shrugged. He looked at his watch and said, "Listen, I do have school tomorrow, and so do you, go back to sleep." I looked down at my room and sighed.
"What's wrong?" he asked as I heard him get up from the window.
"Nothing, I just. I can't sleep. Or I don't want to finish a memory that has come back. It's one of my worst memories." I said and started walking away.
"Wait!' he called after me, 'Give me your hand." and he held his hand out of the window waiting for me. I looked at him and was confused. He chuckled and looked at me,
"Don't worry I'm not going to rape you." then I grabbed his hand and he helped me into his room. It was too dark to see anything but he led me to his bed. He got in and slid to the wall and closed his eyes. I was about to say something but he said,
"You said you couldn't sleep. So here. Sleep here and I'll be here if you're scared." then he pulled the covers over his body and didn't move. I hesitated, I had a choice. Sleep next to a guy who was hot and my only friend, or climb back to the sofa. I walked over to the bed and slept next to him. There was no nightmare, but I'm doing the unthinkable. I'm falling in love with some one I barely know, but has saved my life a few times already. I broke my comfort zone. I turned my body around and Wes was laying on his back one arm under his head and the other on top of his chest. I slid over next to him, my legs touching his, and my arm slip on top of his chest. I felt him move his arm around me and there we were. Sleeping together like we've known each other for years. He left the window open, I knew then on purpose. I was cold so I slid closer to him and his arm was tight around my body. His muscles were relax and his hands were so gentle. I laid my head on his shoulder and then my last thing I remember him kissing my forehead ever so slightly. His lips were soft and light, warm on my cold forehead.
