Wasn't school supposed to be a safe place? Gerard wouldn't know. In fact, he had never known 'safety.' Being... Like he is, safety wasn't even in his vocabulary. Because Gerard wasn't a he. Well, technically he was, but he was also a she. Not biologically, he just never really specified what he referred to himself as. Sometimes he felt like a boy, other times he felt female.

He never really saw that as an issue, but with his father's disapproval and his classmates hatred he hid it away and bottled it up with all his other secrets. The secrets were for no one to ever find out, for no one to know nor read. He did it for that word. Safety. But for some reason, he'd never actually found it. Well, not until he met an escaped convict, that is.
