Dom's POV:

Matt breaks away from me and looks toward the floor as a blush creeps onto his face. I smile as I think about the lingering taste Matt's lip on my own. Matt looks at me out of the corner of his eye and grins brightly. He quickly snatches up his pen and paper, scribbling a quick message.

I think this is the first time I've every seen you genuinely smile

I look into Matt's eyes and take both of his hands into mine. I lean in to kiss him again, but there's a knock on the door. Matt quickly moves from my bed to his, just before the door opens and a nurse steps in.

"Dominic?" she calls out softly. "There's a phone call for you." I nod to her and she smiles before leaving the room, closing the door behind her.

"I'll be back soon," I whisper to Matt, standing up and placing a kiss on the young man's cheek before leaving the room. I quickly walk down the hall to where the patient phone is and I pick it up.

"Hello?" I say after I answer?

"Hi dear," my mum says on the other end of the line. "I know you're only allowed a small amount of phone time per week so I'll try to be quick. Your father and I have discussed it and we think that you should come home. So-"

Before she can continue, I hang up and rush back to my room to find that Matt isn't there. I only find a note on my bed, Matt's sloppy cursive handwriting making my heart stutter.

Gone to therapy. Be back in an hour of so.

I sigh to myself and I fold up his note, shoving it into my pocket. I lie down and close my eyes.

For a moment, life started to go my way. I found something to make me happy and now it's going to be taken away from me.

I bury my face in my hands and do my best not to think about it...
