Shoutout to sellyonjerry because her book inspired me to write this one.
Prologue
Third Person's POV
The bell rang dismissing the students for the rest of the day and they all eagerly packed away their belongings, some people haphazardly shoving material into their bags while others quickly gathered everything in their hands and left.
Then there were the few students that lazily packed away their things, seemingly in no hurry to leave.
Justin Bieber was one of those few students.
"Justin can I speak to you privately please?" The guidance counselor requested as she stood alongside his form Mistress.
"Of course miss." He replied, slinging his bag over his left shoulder and walking to the teacher's desk.
They both stayed silent as the remaining students filed out.
"I need to ask you a huge favor. I understand if you feel the need to think about it but I'm hoping your answer will be yes regardless." She began.
"What is it?"
"We're only asking you this because I know you are one of the more compassionate students and you don't judge people or gossip. And it helps that you two have the same classes." His teacher began to ramble.
"Justin what do you know about Selena Gomez?" The guidance counselor asked calmly.
He furrowed his eyebrows. Selena Gomez?
"Not much. I know that something happened when she went on winter vacation a few years ago then she didn't come back for a while and when she did she was different. They're a lot of rumors so I don't know the truth and I'm not really friends with her..."
Oh and that she was a social outcast that every teacher seemed to protect.
But he didn't say that instead choosing to wait for them to explain what it had to do with him.
"Okay, well Selena is...different. After whatever happened, she..her mind...how do I put this? Despite being an eighteen year old she has the mind of a child. Her doctors can't explain why so they don't know how to help her considering no one, not even her family, knows what happened. She's an intelligent girl and she understands her work but she takes a longer while to grasp the concepts. You're one of our top students Justin and as Ms. Meyers pointed out, you have good qualities. We were hoping you would be able to help her since you both have the same schedule."
Oh. Wow.
"Uhm, I..." He wasn't sure about this. A tutor for Selena Gomez. Hell no. He was just about to reject the offer when Ms. Meyers bribed him with the thing he wanted most.
"I'll write you that recommendation letter to Yale you wanted."
That was all it took.
"Deal."
The women both traded glances and shared a smirk.
"I'll pull you both out of first period tomorrow to go over everything in detail with her parents." Ms. Smith informed him.
"Okay."
"You're free to leave." Ms. Meyers smiled.
He made it to the door before he was stopped.
"Oh and Justin?"
He turned back around.
"Thank you. This girl needs you more than you'll ever know." She smiled like she knew something he didn't and he used that as an excuse to make his exit.
He had had enough of the crazy ass school for the day.

"Oh Justin, right on time. Go ahead and take a seat. Selena and her parents are already in there." Ms. Smith smiled, ushering the young boy into her office.
He saw a couple seated on the leather couch with Selena in the middle of them.
She was looking around the room with wide eyes and a terrified expression on her face, a pink butterfly clip that looked out of place stuck in her hair.
Justin sat on one of the plastic seats, right next to Ms. Smith's desk so he had a clear view of the Gomez'.
Ms. Smith sat on her chair and picked up a piece of paper. She opened her mouth to speak when she was cut off.
"Am I in trouble?" Selena blurted out so innocently Justin had to smile.
"No you're not honey." Her mother soothed, carefully placing her hand on Selena's right shoulder.
"Okay." She shrunk back into her mother's embrace, her eyes still scanning the room.
"Mr. and Mrs. Gomez, this is Justin Bieber, the student we spoke about. He has agreed to be Selena's tutor and aid her in all subjects."
Two pair of eyes turned to him and he waved awkwardly at them.
"Hello Justin." Mrs. Gomez greeted. Her husband's phone buzzed in his pocket and he quickly excused himself. "You can call me Mandy. Thank you so much for agreeing to help my daughter. I know it isn't something that most teenagers want to do and I can't begin to thank you enough. Is there anything you would like? Anything I can do for you?"
The woman looked so grateful that he actually felt guilty for wanting to turn it down.
"Uh, no thank you."
"Why are you thanking him Mommy?" Selena asked, nibbling on her thumb finger.
Her mother quickly pulled it away from her mouth, tucking it in her own hand.
"This is Justin. He's going to help you study baby."
Her eyes brightened up. "So I can get a gold star? All the other kids get one and I don't." She pouted.
He chuckled. "Don't worry. We'll make sure you get a whole bunch of gold stars okay?"
She gasped, turning her gaze away from her mother to him. "Really?"
He nodded, smiling softly at her. "Really."
And then she grinned so wide he swore in that moment he would help her as much as he possibly could.
