Chapter 6
Justin's POV
"Hello Justin." Mandy greeted when she opened the door to find me standing on her porch.
"Hey Mandy. I, uh," I awkwardly scratched the back of my neck as my skin heated up. "Selena wasn't at school today so I figured I'd stop by..."
She smiled at me. "Well that's awfully kind of you. Selena isn't feeling very well. She's in her room."
"What's wrong?" I frowned worriedly.
"She has a migraine. She gets them very often, maybe once or twice a month. The doctor said it's a side effect due to the trauma her head received in her accident."
"Oh." My teeth sunk into my bottom lip. I hated to think of her in any pain. She didn't deserve that.
"You can go see her if you want." Mandy offered.
"Uh, thanks. I won't stay long I promise."
"It's fine Justin. You can stay as long as you want." She laughed, leading me to Selena's room.
"Sel? Baby look who's here." She smiled, moving aside so I can enter.
Selena was curled up on her bed, her blanket wrapped around her in a cocoon.
Her head peaked out of the blanket at the sound of her mother's voice and after she blinked rapidly, a tired grin stretched across her face.
"Hi." She whispered, her voice just as cute as always.
"Hey. How're you feeling?" I asked, stooping in front of her and gently brushing some hair away from her face.
She closed her eyes. "Icky. My head hurts really, really bad."
"I'm sorry. Do you want me to take off the lights? It may help." I suggested knowing that she was sensitive to light and sounds.
"Will you stay with me?" She asked timidly and I was reminded that she was afraid of the dark.
"Of course." I flashed her a grin. Her mom was still in the room so I quickly discarded my shoes, crawling into the bed beside her.
She slowly disentangled herself from her fortress and I draped the blanket over the two of us. She nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck, wrapping on arm across my waist as I held her tightly.
Her mom mouthed 'thank you' to me - I'm not entirely sure why - before she flipped the light switch off and closed the door.
I quietly rubbed circles on Selena's arm while I simultaneously massaged her head and eventually her breathing evened out, indicating that she had fallen asleep.
I didn't even realize I was that tired until I found myself dozing off shortly after.

"Justin." A tiny voice whimpered. The second my brain registered it was Selena, I was awake and alert.
"Selena? What's wrong?" I questioned, noting that she was shaking.
"I-I don't feel good and everything is blurry."
"What do you mean you don't feel good?" I was literally struggling to keep my voice steady.
"I feel dizzy and like I want to throw up."
"Oh okay." I breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that these were common side effects. "It's fine. That's normal. I'm gonna carry you to the bathroom. Is that alright?"
