Kaden stormed out as cautiously as he could out the door, without blowing his rage, that is.
He felt hurt, pain, and was upset. Had there been someone else in her life that probably loved her more than he? This question just made his eagerness to know her past shoot up to the sky. He knew that her family died, murdered. But she wouldn't say who. As if telling him would destroy everything she had worked hard to make. And what was that exactly?
He wouldn't hurt her, or deny her the fact of being independent. All he knew was that he needed her more than he needed air. Somehow, after years of regret and denial, he found someone who would create butterflies in his stomach, every time she smiled like the moon, as rarely as that happened. No, he needed her more than air.
His life never shattered, was never broken, and was always perfect. Then came the death of his mother. Yet this wasn't a murdering, it was a poisoning. Oh how he hated the fact that death was always around and lurked in the mist, that slept in the shadows. Letting chaos roam, and take over consumed hearts. One could never understand the work of him. And his mother was his life. She loved him like no one else and took care of him, supported him, even when he chose the wrong decision. There was no one in his life that he cared more for.
Then came the day that he would never forget. The one that changed his heart, and consumed him with revenge. He tried to break free from the grips of the devil, but he was too strong for even him. So he did the most cowardice thing he could think of, become a thief. Rob people of their possessions in order to find someone of the kingdom, that would lead him to his cousin's whereabouts. The carriages came next. Daily, he and his gang would wait along the roads and jump the carriages that came by, but only if they looked rich. He wouldn't steal from the poor, no.
And that's how two years of his life passed, looking for evidence that could help him kill his mother's poisoner. At last, he sacked a carriage which told him about Larmina, who he had already heard of, but he said she will be coming to the Leki ball. And what better sorceress is there in the world? Then he realized that he couldn't walk into the castle just like that. Chances are people will recognize him, so how could he attend without anybody noticing? An escort.
Suddenly his plan worked into action, he knew the woods by heart and which route led to Finamere. And he knew which carriage was hers.
"Boys!" Kaden softly called out, his hand in the air, his gang waiting for him to close his fingers to give the signal to jump. He peered from over the tree and measured the distance it would be until he and his gang could jump it from all sides.
The carriage was getting to the X mark on the road, the tension in his mind crept up. He held his breath and slowly encased his fingers to his hand.
They jumped it.
One of his trusted gang members lashed out at the driver and then all was still. Another grabbed the horses which had been silently grazing behind a thick wall of tree trunks.
Kaden cautiously made his way to the door, heart pounding. This woman's decision would change his life.

The thief accidentally bumped into someone. He growled at being interrupted from his thoughts.
Stupid nincompoops who can't even watch where they're going. Idiots, I tell you.
The man bowed and smiled apologetically, even though he knew it wasn't his fault. Kaden left his frustration aside and his mind took action. He wasn't here to dillydally around daydreaming. He was here to put his plan into motion.
His angered faced turned to one of cheerfulness. "Oh no sir, it was my fault. I apologize for my daydream actions."
The man's face scrunched together and looked confused, then quickly covered it up with a smile. "It's quite alright."
