Charlie and Peter entered the apartment filled with the smell of pasta sauce and garlic bread, the aroma filling their noses before the sound of Jen dropping a pan in the kitchen reached their ears. Dropping her bag by the door and motioning Peter to do the same she plopped onto the island bar stools and rested her chin in her hand. Pulling the seat next to her out she motioned for Peter to sit.

"Everything okay?"

Jen's naturally red hair was wrapped up in a messy bun that resembled more of a knot at this point and her waitressing clothes were splattered in red sauce.

Heaving a sigh and blowing a few strands of hair out of her face she answered, "Everything's peachy," Jen turned on her heel expecting to see one teenager but was instead greeted with two.

"Oh hello, Charlie are you going to introduce me to your friend or are we just going to pretend that there's two teenagers living in this house now?"

Rolling her eyes as the corners of her lips turned up Charlie spoke, "Jen this is Peter. Peter meet Jen."

"Nice to meet you Peter, I'm glad to see Charlie is finally making some friends."

"It's nice to meet you too Mrs-"

"Oh no Mrs. just call me Jen sweetie."

Peter nodded and offered a small smile to Jen who smiled back and returned to her baking. Charlie found herself once more studying Peter out of the corner of her eye. Unfortunately reading people turned out to be a somewhat bad habit seeing as she did it whenever she found herself zoning out. No thanks to John.

He has nice eyes...

Charlie blinked hard. What the hell was she thinking? There would be none of that. The last thing she needed was another person she could potentially put in danger if the worst were to arise.

"So Peter, are you staying for dinner?" Jen's question snapped Charlie out her daze.

Peter sent a quick glance to Charlie who simply shrugged her shoulders.

"Jen makes a mean lasagna."

With a heartwarming smile sent her way Peter replied, "If it's not a big deal?"

"Course not!" Jenny grinned as she pulled the garlic bread out of the oven. "We'd love to have you stay."

Peter thanked Jenny before hopping off his stool and saying how he needed to call his aunt. The moment he stepped out of the room Jenny whipped around to face Charlie, her body resting against the counter while a wide grin spread across her face.
