One Week Before
Ryker had been lounging on the couch when her mom walked through the door, carrying groceries into the kitchen. "Hey, Ry. Can you help me please?" Her mom, Catherine, asked. Ryker sighed and got up from her comfortable spot on the leather sofa and made her way into the kitchen to help her mom. She started placing the contents of the bags to where they needed to go and about had a heart attack when Harry appeared next to her mom. Her eyes widened, still not getting the whole guardian angel dilemma. "What are you doing here?" Ryker asked, staring at the tall male with brown curls for hair. Catherine turned around to face her daughter with a concerned look on her face. "Honey, who are you talking to?" She asked. Ryker didn't know what to do or say. What could she say? Oh hey mom, meet my guardian angel, Harry, who tells stupid jokes and is supposed to keep an eye out for me. "Umm, you don't see him?" She asked stupidly. Catherine's face was etched with worry for her seventeen year old daughter. "Who are you talking about?" Her mother questioned, turning to face the empty kitchen minus them two.
Harry stared at the two women in the kitchen, chewing on his lower lip. He really should have let her know that other people can't see him unless he wanted them to. Harry rubbed his forehead and mentally kicked himself for forgetting that piece of important information. "Hey, Ryker. Your mom can't see me, just fyi." He responded, letting a light chuckle escape his lips at the hilarious moment going on. Ryker glared at him and turned to face Catherine, pointing in the general direction of Harry. "Mom, you're probably going to think I'm losing my mind, but I'm not. I promise. There is a guardian angel, my guardian angel, standing over there and his name is Harry. I met him a week ago and he claims that he's here to watch over me." She explained to her mother. Catherine stared long and hard at her daughter and patted her shoulder. "I'll be back." She said, walking out of the kitchen.
Present Day
Ryker sighed and ran a hand through her dark locks, scanning over the room at the other patients. One patient that went by the name Tris kept on shouting that they were coming. Whatever was coming wasn't coming soon enough, Ryker thought. She still couldn't believe that her mother would put her in a place like this. Ryker swore that her mother would be the one person who would believe her. She bit her quivering lip to stop herself from crying once again and focused her attention on a guy who was staring back at her. His brown orbs were focused on her and his lip was in between his teeth. "Great, not only do I deal with crazies in this damn place, I deal with pervs also." Ryker stated, rolling her eyes. She felt the couch dip down with weight and looked over to see Harry. "Where the hell have you been?" Ryker asked. She had been waiting for him to make his presence known to stop her from going out of her mind. He only chuckled and let his wings reside into his back, leaning aganist the couch cushions. "I had a crisis, but I'm sure I didn't miss anything while I was gone. I'm sure you kept that pose the whole time, am I right?" Harry asked, smirking. Ryker rolled her eyes and turned to look for that one guy, but he had disappeared.
"Can you just show yourself so I can get out of here?" Ryker asked Harry, turning her attention to the green eyed boy. He shook his head and looked back at her. "No, I can't. I can only show myself if it's necessary." Harry stated seriously. "Isn't this a necessary thing?" Ryker asked in exasperation. "No, because you're not dying being in here." He replied, wnking at her before disappearing altogether. She groaned and clenched her jaw, staring at the lunatics that resided here. "Damn angels." Ryker whispered, staying on the couch for the remainder of free time.
