Hermione couldn't wait to board the Hogwart's Express as they stood on the platform, Mrs Weasley giving her round of hugs, kisses, and sandwiches.
Ron stood beside her their hand intertwined, which seemed more polite than what Harry and Ginny were doing. Molly had to forcibly remove her daughter from the Boy Who Lived in order to hug her good-bye herself.
Neither Harry, nor Ron were attending their final year at Hogwarts, instead taking full advantage of the 'Golden Trio' appearance they already had every department in the Ministry of Magic begging them to come to work for them. Harry was starting his Auror training soon and Ron hadn't quite decided where he wanted to be yet and was in the mean time helping George out at the joke shop.
Hermione planted a sweet kiss on Ron's lips before giving him a small wave and climbing aboard the now moving train. Ginny squeezed Harry's butt grinning at the scarlet red his face went, with only moments to savour it she ran after the train and she grabbed Hermione's hand to pull herself up.
"If he so much as looks at any other girl, I'm going to rip off his man-hood" Ginny grumbles under her breath but it was definitely loud enough for Hermione who erupted into a fit of laughter.
"Harry would never do that to you Gin, he loves you!" She reassured her fiery haired friend.
"Yeah, well my dim-witted brother loves you and he still finds time to check out girls arses" Ginny replied sarcastically, Hermione flushed and a burning jealously entered her throat.
Had he really?
"Well, I better get off to the Head Compartment." She said curtly and started to make her way in the opposite direction of Ginny.
"Oh Hermione I didn't mean anything by it!" Ginny called after her exasperated, but the youngest Weasley wished she'd never said anything as she went to find Luna and Neville by herself.
The Compartment was empty when Hermione finally got to it, and for that she was grateful.
She didn't want her first encounter with the Head Boy to be unpleasant because she was in a snarky mood.
Looking back though, Hermione could remember quite a few situations in which Ronald had 'found time' to look at a girls butt or at their boobs.
Hermione blanched in disgust and leant back in her seat closing her eyes, trying to forget the looks of her pig headed, perverse boyfriend would give to those fore mentioned girls.
Draco had chosen to spend the train ride in the Slytherin Compartment, after all that's where he belonged.
"Oh Draco how wonderful it is to see you!" Chirped one love-sick Pansy Parkinson as she clung onto Goyle's thick, trunk like arm. It was slightly unnerving to see Goyle without Crabbe, Draco thought and a sickness suddenly washed over him.
He stood up and moved towards the compartment door.
"Where're you goin'?" Goyle grunted, Draco flinched slightly but put his cool facade on.
"I'm going to fulfil my Head Duties if you must know." He replied smoothly and slipped out before either one could reply.
Blaise hadn't returned this year so Draco didn't have anyone he could have a decent conversation with anymore.
He didn't even have anyone who could hold a bloody conversation he rolled his eyes at Pansy and Goyle's stupidity.
Not being in the least stupid, Draco had already figured out who the Head Girl was and was dreading seeing the buck-toothed beaver.
He waited a few seconds outside the compartment before opening the door and stepping in, he had expected a gasp maybe even a scream but there was silence.
That might have had something to do with the fact that Hermione Granger had fallen asleep rather ungracefully, with her head lolling to the side and her mouth wide open emitting little snores now and then.
They were infuriating to Draco as he sat opposite the sleeping girl trying to read.
He wanted to punch her in the face so she'd wake up and pretend like he'd never done it, but then she woke up.
She took him in with her brown eyes and shrugged vaguely before standing up and reaching for her trunk.
Draco was outraged.
"Did you just dismiss me Mudblood?" He sneered, she stiffened but said nothing.
Instead she pulled out a pale blue blanket from her trunk and pulled it over herself and grabbed a book.
She wasn't in the mood to be tormented, and she was here first so Hermione was going to stay.
Draco was thinking along the same lines as he glared at her and stubbornly crossed his arms across his chest.
Hermione mirrored the gesture crossly pursing her lips her silence become impertinent in Draco's eyes.
"Speak woman, or get out!" He snapped closing his book angrily.
Her eyes narrowed considerably until they landed on the cover of the book he'd just been reading.
She had to stifle a giggle. Outraged at the small outburst, obviously made to demoralise him Draco stood up and glowered down at her.
"What's so funny Mudblood?" He leered and she pulled up her blanket around her shoulders as his eyes dipped her in frost.
"What's funny Ferret, is that you're reading the same book as I am. I find it rather amusing we'd share literary taste considering I'm reading a muggle book." She enjoyed the look of complete hatred cross his face, then with one swift movement he snatched her blanket away from her.
She shrieked and grabbed the end of the blanket back and tugged at it but he held onto it defiantly.
"Give me him back!" She yelled jumping up and smacking his arms with her free hand.
He smirked smugly and his hold tightened.
"Him? Him Granger? Got a little boyfriend here? Does he take away the bad dreams?" He taunted and Hermione felt on the verge of tears as she kept on pulling hopelessly.
His face was fuelling a horrible fire in her stomach as he continued to jeer at her. This blanket had kept her sane during her time last year, camping. It had reminded her of home and her family when she needed reminding the most. It was her comfort, it was her safety blanket.
In the most un-Hermione like way possible she launched herself on him trying to claw at the hand he held it in only vaguely hearing his screams.
They struggled on the floor, rolling around until the blanket tangled them together.
"What in the name of Merlin is happening here?!" A stern voice demanded.
