I look up at Yami smiling even though Tea's threat still hangs in the air making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end.
"You know I won't let her hurt you, right?" Yami says as he runs a hand through my hair.
"Mhm, I know," I say blushing lightly. His face is still so close to mine, his breath smells faintly of cinnamon. I like it.
"Good, I want you to feel safe," he says softly, his voice like velvet. He leans in slightly, our lips only inches apart. My heart speeds up in anticipation of our lips touching.
"Hey, you two alright?" Joey says popping his head in the doorway. Yami immediately unwraps his arms from around me and steps away a few steps. I look away from Joey embarrassed and disappointed that Yami and I never actually kissed...
"Yeah, we are fine," Yami says, smiling and blushing lightly, rubbing the back of his head.
Joey raises an eyebrow and starts grinning, "Oh so this is why you didn't tell us who ya liked Yugi! How long has this been goin' on?"
"Well, uh," I say blushing deeply and looking at Yami for help.
"He just told me how he felt actually," Yami says coolly, "Thats why Tea had a little hissy fit."
"Mhm suuuure," Joey says laughing, "You want me to leave you two alone again or are you going to come back and join us?"
I really wish I could stay up here with Yami, just for awhile....
"So are we still playing truth or dare?" Yami asks, taking my hand and leading me out the door behind Joey.
"Of corse! And Yugi still has to answer to everyone!" Joey says over his shoulder as we all climb down the stairs.
We walk back into the living room, Joey sits back down on the floor, Yami sits down on the couch and I sit on the arm of the couch. This time though, Tea isn't here latched on to Yami's arm.
"Yugi, are you alright?" Bakura asks in his British accent, his face a mask of concern.
"Yes, Im fine," I say smiling.
"Then go ahead and answer the question," Duke says sounding bored.
"Well, I like Yami," I say, looking at Yami, who smiles back at me and rests a hand on my knee.
"Really?" asks Tristan staring at us, "I always thought you had liked Tea."
I shake my head, "No, Tea is to loud, obnoxious, and annoying. Do I need to continue?"
Tristan grins, "Then we don't have to put up with her anymore right?"
"I sure hope not, she is a nutcase!" I say laughing.
--------------The next day----------------
"Yugi, Yugi wake up!" Yami calls cheerfully from downstairs.
I slowly peel myself out of my bed and yawn, stretching my arms. Morning again. At least its Saturday and I don't have to go to school.... I look at myself in the mirror, my light blue pajamas are all wrinkled and my hair sticks out even more crazy than normal. I shake my head at the reflection, still to tired to care.
I walk down the stairs still stretching and yawning. Grandpa sat on the couch eating a bowl of cereal and watching Domino City news intently, sirens wailed from the t.v and a frantic female news caster spoke quickly to the camera about a mass murder that sprang up last night.
"Good morning," Yami says smiling at me from the kitchen. I walk over to him and lean my head on his shoulder. Today he's wearing a black long sleeved shirt with a white winter vest over it.
"I was wondering if you wanted to get out of the house today," he says, lightly wrapping an arm around my waist.
"That sounds nice," I say, "What's the plan?"
"Well I thought that first we could walk down to the park, then stop by Burger World for lunch and then meet up with Joey and Seto for a movie."
"Seto finally asked Joey out? Or was it Joey who asked Seto out?" I ask happy for them, it had always been obvious to me that they like each other despite their petty banter.
"Seto asked out Joey last night, I guess something finally just clicked," he said chuckling and handing me some toast, "You better get ready, we are going to leave soon."
"Alright, Ill be right back!" I say over my shoulder as I run back upstairs to my room.
I set the toast on my desk and walk over to the closet. To many clothes to choose from! I want to look my best for Yami, he looked so nice today and I don't want to look even more out of place when Im next to him.
I finally settle on a red long sleeved shirt with a black vest and a pair of black jeans. I hope Yami will see that I at least tried. I walk back to the desk, picking up the toast and hair brush. While I brush my hair I eat the toast and daydream about the day. Its going to be perfect! I practically hop downstairs, grinning from ear to ear.
"You look good," Yami says as I rush up to him excitedly.
"You think so?" I ask grinning.
"Yes, the red makes your eyes pop," he says taking my hand and leading me to the door.
"See you later!" I call out to Grandpa.
"Be careful Yugi," he calls back, "Don't be out to late!"
"We be careful!" I say as I close the door behind me.
The day was nice, the cold barely registered in my mind. The streets are calm, no cars are out and everyone seems to be inside their homes.
"Its quiet isn't it?" Yami says looking around as we walk down the street and take a left into the park.
"Yep, its kind of nice," I say swinging our hands. The few leaves left on the trees rattle in the wind as we walk down a small path.
Yami looks around like someone is going to pop out and try to kill us at any second, apparently the silence isn't a nice thing to him.
We come up to a pond, the ducks that normally swim here have long since flown south for the winter. A thin layer of ice had formed over the pond but the water beneath was still crystal clear.
"Im glad we get to spend today together," I say coming to a stop at the edge of the lake.
"So am I," Yami says turning to me. His eyes sparkle slightly and a gentle smile plays on his lips. I blush lightly as he brushes my bangs out of my eyes. He leans in, his breath warm against my face.
Thud.
The light flickers in his eyes for a second as he stumbles backwards and falls unconscious on the frost covered ground.
"Yami!!" I scream, staring at him in shock.
"I told you I would have him Yugi," Tea says from behind me, laughing like a maniac.
"Why?! Why did you do this to him?! Why can't you just leave us alone?!" I yell, whipping around to face her. She is still wearing the same clothes as yesterday only today they are drenched in blood. In her hand she holds a bloody brick, the one she must have used to hit Yami across the back of the head with. In her other hand she holds a butcher knife.
"He belongs with me, not you, and I will make him see that one way or another! As for you, I'll make your death as long and painful as possible," she says.
Without warning she jumps on me and uses the brick to pound my head while she laughs.
Pain. So much pain....
As my vision darkens I remember Grandpa's warning about being careful. To late for that now.....
