Beep....Beep...Beep....Beep.

The first thing I notice is the steady beep of a machine and the sound of someone pacing. My body is covered with a sticky sweat and every breath I take is labored. My eyes are shut tightly and to open my eyes would feel like lifting an elephant so I just lie here. Silently.

"Yug, are ya in there pal?" I faintly hear, as if someone, Joey, was yelling to me from far away, "Come on Yug, wake up! You have to wake up!"

When I try to answer I find my mouth staying shut and that my voice is to weak to use. Even just trying to twitch a finger makes me feel as though my body is just a lead weight.

"Yugi, wake up man!" another faint voice calls. Tristan.

Then the sound of people crying fill the room. It hurts me emotionally to know Im the source of their pain. I don't know how Tea had the heart to do what she did to me.

"Yugi...Yugi, please wake up. Im sorry, Im so sorry," A deep voice says to me, Yami. It sounds like he is crying or at least choked up.

Silence.

"Yugi, you don't have to forgive me but please, just wake up and tell me you are alright!" now he is defiantly crying.

Silence. This time I hear him get up and walk away.

Then I decide to escape the reality where Im to weak to move, falling asleep again.

The dream starts out like any other dream I have had since the 'incident'.

I sit in the middle of a blood red room, nothing is around me, no doors, no tables, no chairs, and no people. My shirt is gone, my pale skin looks weak and brittle, like glass. Even by normal standards I feel small, the walls of the room reach up on and on.

"How does it feel to be weak and helpless?" a voice echoes out. A girl's voice that is familiar, a voice I never wanted to hear again.

"Please go away," I whisper, my head whipping around to look for her as I pull my legs up to my chest, my breathing starts to quicken. I feel trapped, like a mouse being stalked by a hungry hawk.

"Come now Yugi, you can't really want ME to go away can you?" a different voice asks, Yami's voice, only now its cruel and taunting.

And it came from behind me. This is starting to turn out not to be just a nightmare but something worse, a memory.

I slowly turn around and freeze as I come face to face with Yami and Tea. Yami's eyes are hazy and his face shows no emotion while Tea's face holds the psychotic grin and malice in her eyes.

No. I can not relive this nightmare. Not again. I start to shake in fear as tears come to my eyes. Yami holds the knife while Tea holds a bull whip.

Just. Like. Before.

"Yami, teach him not to hurt you again, do it now," Tea says motioning to me with the grin plastered on her face like a doll.

"Are you sure its ok?" Yami asks in the hideously monotonously swaying back and forth on his feet slightly unsure.

"Yes, now do it," Tea says kissing him hard on the lips before turning and staring at me cruelly.

Stop.

Yami takes a step forward, and then another until he is right in front of me. I beg him with my eyes to stop because my words had failed me.

Please stop.

Yami kneels in front of me and stares into my eyes blankly.

"Now Yami."

And as his puppet master commanded he cuts into my arm. The pain I should have felt is not there, I just feel the numbness spread down my arm, following the trickle of blood.

"Again."

Slash.

"Again."

Slash.

"Again."

And this time before he can bring the knife down on my arm again I close my eyes, cover my head with my hands and scream.

No longer am I in the red room. The harsh memory broke the stillness of the quiet hospital room. My voice is horse as I shoot up into a siting position, ignoring the pain, and scream.

"Yugi?!" Yami's deep voice calls out in concerned surprise. I look up at him fearfully. His head is bandaged and he wears a hospital gown that matches mine.

"Please don't hurt me!" I yell as he approaches me. His eyes widen with hurt shock as he stops, his arm half reached out to me.

Nurses rush in the room past Yami, yelling at each other to check this and that trying to get me to lay down again.

Yami just keeps staring at me, forcing me to keep my fearful gaze on him. His eyes are clear now but he stands frozen, his lips move like he is trying to tell me something, but if he is I can't tell what it is over the sound of the nurses.

How can I trust him again after what happened? How do I know he won't go back into that terrible haze where he only remembers me as an enemy? What did he and Tea do while I was trapped in her basement?

A silent, warm tear runs down my cheek as I turn away from him and look up at a nurse. She injects me with something that could only be a sleeping medication. I start feeling drowsy as my muscles relax.

How can I trust him...

Can I trust him...

Trust....
