6: Problem Arises
*-*-*-*
The next day was just a normal school day, except the tension from last night still lingered between Aomine and I. I ignored him as much as possible, even if we were stuck in the same class. Once, when I had to partner up with him, I did all the job, while all he did was sleeping. No interactions of any sorts were passed between us, and I did it as silently as I could. It was Lunch when I finally had my heat reach my skull.
I picked up my pace and walked over to the Office Building. "Ms Iwasaki, is Principal Sugahara here?" I asked as soon as I stepped in, looking around. My fingers twitched, a sign I do when I was truly unhappy about something. She smiled genuinely in response, shaking her head.
"Kaede, you're alone, so you can address him normally." She typed a few things on her computer and nodded. "Do you want to meet him now?"
"Oops. Sorry. Yes please," I politely replied. She told me to sit while waiting for him to call me in. I did as told, while she picked up the telephone to phone my father. A few moments later, I was allowed to go in.
"Father," I breathed.
"What's wrong, Kaede?" He took off his reading glasses and walked over to me, assisting me to the couch.
I breathed in and out, in and out. Never, lose, your cool. "Father, I can't take it anymore. Do you have any other room vacant?"
Well...
Hush.
He immediately gave me an apologetic smile, as if he'd expected this all along. "Still none yet." He shook his head.
"But Father, I can't just live like.." I pleaded, my voice cracking slightly and making me hang my sentence.
"Kaede, my daughter, I'm sorry. For a while, things will get bumpy, but I'm sure it'll all work out soon. Remeber what I told you?"
" 'What's the use in giving up early when all your hard efforts will be paid off at some point?' " I repeated the words and soon felt his warm, big hands ruffling my hair.
"That's my daughter. If you have enough patience, I'm sure he'll warm up to you. He's not that much of a bad person you know."
"How do you know that?" I asked, looking at him perplexedly.
"I know so," he assured me, smiling softly. He then pulled me to his chest, rubbing my back soothingly. I didn't know what to say, so I just stayed silent for the rest of Lunch.

I had Bio again after Lunch, and since everybody had did such a great job the previous session lesson, the teacher gave us a Free Period. We were fine as long as we stayed inside. Some were sleeping, some studying, some goofing around, some just aimlessly talking. I was one of the last.
"Kaecchi!" Kise slipped into the spot beside me. "Where were you? I searched for you.."
"Ah! Sorry, Kise. I met the Principal."
"You mean.. Your father?" He questioned, eyebrows raising. "Why?"
"Shhh!!!" I silenced him, looking around. Luckily this time again, no one heard. "I met him because I wanted to change my room partner. I asked for a vacant room."
"Ohh..." He completely understood, then prompted me to go on. "Then?"
I shook my head in defeat, my lips forming a thin line. "Nope. None."
"Aww, dang it," he sighed, "I guess you just have to hold on a little longer, yeah?" I nodded.
"You know what?" His ears perked up at my sudden question. "Let's talk about something else. These kind of things are disappointing."
