So I remember how much Spencer likes Halloween and then this happened...and the video helped me realize that Reid is a bit autistic and I want to divulge into that a bit more with this story in itself.

"Why are we doing this?" Spencer asked awkwardly as I dragged him through a Halloween shop.

"Because I am taking you out to go trick or treating. I have your dad's permission and you're mother trusts me enough to watch over you. A kid needs to do trick or treating at least once in their life." I said with conviction as I watched Spencer eye the pre-made costumes and everything else in the store with wide eyes.

Spencer finally looked at me for a few seconds before breaking eye-contact, something I was use to since meet him, he won't always hold eye-contact but that was alright, "I don't see the point in going out to get candy." Spencer said hesitantly eyeing the place again, looking everywhere but me.

I paused in my next step and made Spencer do the same, slowly I turned to him and crouched in front of him, "Can you do something for me then Spencer?" I asked and waited for the eyes to make contact with mine for a few seconds before it broke away again.

"What?" Spencer asked his voice hesitant, wondering where I was going with this conversation.

I gave him a reassuring smile, "Instead of thinking about the day as a 'get candy day' let me tell you the original history about Halloween." I said giving him an encouraging smile.

"It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November First as a time to honor all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints' Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows' Eve and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating. In a number of countries around the world, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people continue to usher in the winter season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats." I told him with a soft smile as I saw the spark in his eye that meant he memorized the facts I just said in his head. (Information found on History.com)

"I think I will go trick-or-treating then" Spencer said hesitantly as he grabbed my hand with a soft smile and looked around at the costumes again, "A Stormtrooper!" Spencer suddenly breathed out in excitement spotting the signature white suit and helmet.

"I think that's a fantastic costume." I told him while picking it up and placing it in a basket, "Now should I be Princess Leia? Or something else?" I slightly teased and watched as Spencer's eyes lit up with excitement.

"Princess Leia would be cool." he shyly admitted with a small blush on his cheeks as I gave him a smile.

After finding the costume and grabbing some candy for the weekend of Halloween, I went to school the next day with Spencer telling me all these cool facts about Samhain and the history and traditions behind it.

I could tell Spencer was excited when I arrived at the Reid house at 5:30 with a Spencer Reid decked in his Stormtrooper costume already rambling about some facts while he made weird hand motions.

I also was in my costume of Princess Leia and had the plastic gun in my hand, thankfully it was pretty light and I had a small place for it around my hips that I decided to throw into the costume.

"You look awesome." Spencer breathed out before taking another breath and starting to talk about the history of Star Wars.

Deciding to indulge Spencer, I pulled him into my lap while he was still talking and listened to him ramble; I even asked a few questions to keep the conversation going.
